Default do i have to remove battery to charge it

want to charge my 07 cars battery, reading 11.65 , when stopped. Is it safe to attach a charger when the battery is still connected, using standard charger set at slow charge, should i remove the battery to charge. On a thread a guy connected another battery then removed old one and didn't break the connection, so had no need to reprograme anything

Unless you have a tremondously wonky battery charger, there is no need to disconnect the battery before charging.

How did it get down to 11.65?

Default battery

not sure, seems to be original battery, 07 model, was fitting interior leds in boot and cabin , doors were open and lights off and on for a while, never started it, no problems though, just checking it out when i was in the boot doing bulbs. Mine a standard 240v charger with slow charge option, reading that the ECU may get damaged if i charge the battery in place, is that so.

Powerhouse:

Consider ordering a CTEK brand smartcharger and keeping on the car when parked if you have the car parked inside.

The CTEK is very popular and I personally use them on my 2009 Jaguar XKR, 2014 Porsche Cayman 981 and 2013 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 Turbo. They are available for European electrical systems and will do the job for you.

I have provided a link so that you can see how they are installed. Anyone can install this in 10-15 minutes.

I also suggest the CTEK Comfort Extension.

I have provided links for the European MXS 5 charger so you can get an idea of what I am speaking about.

How to install:

About my suggestion for the CTEK for customers in Ireland:

Available at Amazon.com:

CTEK MXS 5 Info and Dealers located in Ireland:
MXS 5.0

This unit should end all worries about keeping your battery up to proper levels. However if the battery you presently have is more than 3-4 years old, I suggest you buy a new battery and then keep the CTEK MXS 5.0 attached to the battery when not driving the Jaguar.

This information should make it very easy for you. All links are provided and I have provided detailed info about the CTEK product. The CTEK MXS 5 is for European useage.

Hope you find this info useful.

Default Charging XKR battery

Can you charge 2010 jag XKR with Battery Monitoring System with CTEK MXS 5.0? The Jag Handbook says the battery must be removed from the vehicle, yet I have read many forums that it is OK

Yes, just make sure you connect the negative clip of the charger to a ground point on the chassis, not directly to the negative post of the battery. That way, the charge current passes through the BMS so that it can 'see' the charging taking place.
