There seems to be large gaps in the VINs, interesting! Why does this occur?

I would like to add this picture. If you look hard there is a Final Fifty in this picture.

A sensible person could assume that Final Fifty means the last fifty XK's to be produced and they will therefore have consecutive VIN's.

Wrong. It is a specification, not a chronology. They were produced alongside the Signature and Dynamic R models, hence the gaps in VIN's.

I knew the last vehicle off the line was a red XKR on 24th July 2014 which was gifted by JLR to Jaguar Heritage Trust. Interested to know how close my own XK Signature was to the end of production, I asked Jaguar CRC for the VIN of the last vehicle. CRC refused claiming Jaguar will not allow release of production numbers. Perhaps they should have told their IT staff about this policy because all it takes to find out is punching consecutive VIN's into TOPIx until they stop at B56794.

Interesting my 2013 is 49488 and it was produced in July of 2012. That means there were only 7306 XKs produced in the two year time period.

I gotta admit I do like the louvers in the bonnet. Brings me back to my XKE days. If I could find one and had the money I guess that would be one of the changes I would do. Is it a welded in unit or stamped with the bonnet.

I think this is the reason Jaguar are so reluctant to release production numbers. Working from VIN's, only 2630 of the 2015MY were produced in the seven month period between January 2014 and the final one off the line in July 2014.

It certainly explains why Jaguar cancelled the XK in 2014 and, despite several rumours in the media, haven't gone ahead with a replacement. With the shrinking market for large saloons and two seater coupe/convertibles, it's little wonder they are concentrating on bland SUV's.

Graham - i tend to agree with what you are saying here. According to the VINs there were just 56,794 XKs and XKRs produced from 2006 to 2014 which would mean to say that about 6310 vehicles were produced on average in each of the nine year model run. I wonder what their annual break even point was.

The previous XK8/XKR (for which Jaguar have released annual production figures) totalled 90,616 in the 9 years 1996 to 2005. At less than two thirds of this total, the XK must therefore have been a disappointment in terms of sales.

The premium cost on the Final Fifty brought in useful revenue from those who were prepared to pay for a degree of exclusivity but shows just how much the two door market had changed since the runout of the previous model XKR where the Victory Edition sold over 1000 units in the USA in 2005/06.

Break even can't have been helped by slashing 10,000 UKP off the cost for the runout 'standard' XK Signature and Dynamic R models. However, I have to say it's one of the best Jaguar models I've owned.

Comparing values for 2015 XKR models........I happened to see a beautiful black 2015 XKR with 26,000 miles listed at a South Florida Jaguar dealer for $38,000. A few days later it was gone. Boy have our cars sunken in value so quickly! Let’s just drive and enjoy them!
