Default Dog whistle high pitched whine from A/C

This is a topic, noise, whine whistle, squeal, etc, I have seen come up a lot here with all sorts of diagnosis and conclusions but no REAL conclusion from what I can tell. The noise is present ONLY when the compressor is engaged, with the climate control on and in econo mode (compressor off) the noise instantly goes away, turn econo off (compressor on) and the whistle returns.

The whine has been present for about 5 years but only occasionally and typically was only under hard acceleration. Recently though it seems to do it more frequently, some times continuously for an entire drive and sometimes not at all.

Has anyone come up with a solution? Thanks!

I can't find the link now, but I had read that there was a TSB that replaced a bend going through the firewall. Though I recall that being for the 5.0. It was certain loads and temperatures could cause it. Had to do with the flow of the coolant. I had seen reports of topping off the refrigerant had helped solve it. I was going to try that and then track down the new bend if not. Hadn't seen anyone posting reports of doing it.

That TSB too sounds familiar.

It could be temperature dependent. It has been hovering around 100 degrees Fahrenheit the days I have driven it recently.

I had a whine on my X350 that went away once I had the refrigerant topped up. I thought it was an issue with the gearbox initially.

I also had a whistle that I eventually tracked down to one of the vents only being open a tiny amount!

Not the gearbox as the noise goes away when the compressor is turned off but blower left running. I'll check with a Jag dealer to see if they have any ideas.

I had this exact same problem. High pitched whistle that could only be heard when the a/c compressor was engaged. Had it for months and it slowly got louder or at least seemed to. At first I didn't notice any issue with the a/c other than the whistle, but over time it seemed to not cool as well. Eventually it stop cooling completely and the whine stopped. Turns out I had a leak in the evaporator. Assume the whine was caused by low refrigerate and was gone once I had the repair and recharge.

Drove the car a bit this morning. Note that it took about 10 minutes for the noise to begin. AC blows ice cold from 70f and below in this hot Florida sun. Also noted the throttle affected the noise as well. Coasting at 20MPH the whine was present but as soon as I lightly pressed the gas pedal, the whistle went away.

After driving a bit more today it appears to do it around 1200-1500 RPM, while parked in neutral or while driving.

Default High Pitch Noise from Drivers Side

Jaguar XK 2010 - High pitch sound coming from left-front drivers area. I thought it was a window leak, or a the left-front brake pad, or a A/C sound, or a speaker. After some investigation, evaluated it wasn't a speaker. Not sure what it is. Comes and goes...

I have this exact issue. It's definitely aggraveted by outside temps, BTW. Brought it in to a Jag dealer (I have an aftermarket warranty).
A) they said since the replacement tube is not "original," it is not warrantied.
B) but they could replace it for $261.
"A" seems like bullshit, but if I lose that fight, is "B" reasonable?"

I took it to the dealer a couple of months ago and found the TSB. It is a small part but I was quoted about 4 times that price (they have to evacuate the system then refill) so I would say that is a bargain.

Same problem here, between 1000-2000 RPM, for 1-2 seconds, but is irritating as hell in the city.
It would be great a TSB number for this problem.
My car is in the shop for brake pad replacement. I've mentioned the problem, but now I cannot seem to reproduce it. Today is not very hot!

I have it at my office. When I return, I'll post it. Here is one of the part numbers C2P19902.

Actually the pipe does not necessarily need to be replaced, just the O-ring & spacer which is less than $40 in parts and labor is less than 1 hour, so I think my dealer misquoted at 5 hours labor and $300 in parts.

My car did all the symptoms you guys are saying then the AC compressor locked up and shredded the serpentine belt.

UPDATE: so I had my car in for something else, and I played Let's Make a Deal with my warranty company. They agreed to cover half the cost of the spacer-and-o-ring fix-- I'd be out of pocket $125, and figured why not.
So far, sound is gone. Didn't realize how annoying it had become til I stopped hearing it. Glad I had it done.
