I heard a little rattle coming from the door while driving and noticed the tweeter in the trim moving. I took it off and saw that the clips that retain the tweeter were broken ( a common thing I have found out ).
With the trim removed I went into my workshop and looked it over, found the trim online however, I was unable to locate just the ring on its own and I was told that it is only the complete trim.
I decided to measure it up and print a replacement part as the trim is ok.
Using my resin printer set to 50micron print I measured up the part and built a version in solidowrks then dumped it to my resin printer.
it took 40 mins to print, then into the isopropyl to clean and 10mins under the uv curing station and it was finished.
I didnt add the radius to the edges as it was to test if it would print ok and be useable, its fine and the good thing is I can now customize these for my car with a printed "mesh" or a central bar with jaguar running through it or around the ring of the fitting, different shapes for the grill etc.
For now the one I have printed is working fine.
Broken mounting tabs mesh is fine no tabs Quick measurement test in Solidworks for print Resin print finished Print washed and cured Mesh test fit ok Tweeter test fit ok just needed to push clip in further to lock. Fit into trim ok Front fit ok

Reason: reduce photo size
Your solution is absolutely the correct and high tech approach to this problem.
Being uneducated in the ways of 3D printing (as yet, at any rate), my considerably lower tech and so last century solution was the judicious application of “dum dum putty” around the periphery of the broken tweeter trim ring to hold it in position. So far it seems to be working…

Nothing wrong with that, engineers speak is..
1. Examine the issue
2. Design the solution
3. Apply
4. Does it work? we now enter the world of programming!!
#start
Line 1: if design = application then status= 0 or 1
Line 2: enter status-
Line 3: if status = 0 then return to line 1
Line 4 : if status =1 then pat self on back, crack open a cold one and sit back and glory in your magnificence then goto Line 5
Line 5 : End Line
Absolutely brilliant! This’s such a common problem with a good demand for a solution I reckon there’s a good bit of members here who’d be quite ecstatic to have your solution available to them, in fact you could probably offer them
up on eBay or the like and sell a few.

Impressive. I must get one of these devices.

Drifting off your main topic but, as you have raised the point about picture size, it's worth an explanation here.
The forum has to cater for photos attached directly from smartphones, tablets etc which are often 5mb and more. These are automatically set to display but this is a compromise and doesn't precisely control the image size in a post. For greater control, photos must be resized with appropriate software before uploading.
When I post a sequence of images, I usually set them all to 1000 pixel width so they all look the same size in a post. For posts with a very large number of images, I choose a smaller 'standard' width such as in ths VIN decode post:
Apologies its been a while since I followed this one up. I have been working on this quietly when time allows due to work. The design is now pretty much there, the ring snap locks into position as does the original. It has the correct locator points and mount offsets.
I am also now looking at the boot/trunk internal plastic vents that clip into place, One of mine was missing ( found half of it ) and the other is starting to break, the abs is too thin in places and the ribs are too thin also.
I have started measureing these up and building them in solidworks ready to do a test print in ABS.
There are some other items i am looking at making also that you cannot buy seperately from jaguar or that they even stock them anymore.

If you’re making for sale I’m certainly in the market for a replacement!

On monday I will be doing a final revision and also sending a sample set out to a you tuber for an independent test fit and review. I want to get someone elses input on the tweeter rings before I look at selling them. I am also looking at another design where the "mesh" is a pre printed mini hexagonal type mesh so you dont have the fit the old metal one if you don't want to. The idea is that you get two pairs, one pair like the original that take your old metal grill and another that has a pre printed grill.
I have also finished the design for the new boot vents, they are much sturdier and will be made out of carbon fibre and nylon PA-12 I will also try them in PETG-CF and PET-CF, a quick look sees one vent listed at just over £100 here in the uk.
The vent can either be the original type or I am also doing something different which I will share when its done.
I have to get a larger print system for the vents as the one i currently have is too small.

I kind of hope your Something Different is making the slots into the shape of a Jaguar head. Not a growler, but like a 3/4 shot. I'd buy that.
Sorta like...
Apologies I have been out of action for a while due to having a heart attack in january and spending over a month in hospital before surgery. Heart failure is a big bag of crap but I have started re-hab.
I am back home now looking at some free time while I am recovering, The car is SORN and on the driveway for 6 months until I can drive again (hopefully).
As soon as I am upto it I will run a set of the last updated ones off as I got the ultra tough resin in and a new print vat. If they are spot on which they should be then I will get a couple of sets out for review as promised and take it from there.
I am also looking at the option of not having to use the metal mesh and have a printed built in mesh to the mounts.
As soon as I am upto it I will run them off, bear with me, I haven't forgotten just having some much needed rest.
