Recently, to better monitor my coolant temp, I bought an OBD2 multi monitor thingy with a small screen that plugs into the obd port.
It works well and is not obtrusive.
Last night plugged in the maintainer (noco genius 5) and locked the car. . This morning I noticed the monitor was still lit, I unlocked the car then "double locked" it and the monitor was off when I
checked it about 30 minutes later.
So, I'm guessing the car doesn't fully "shut down" with a single lock press?
Not exactly. Double locking will shut off Convenience Mode, instead of it taking about 20 minutes to time out by itself. That can help your battery to last longer.
US members who "double lock" their X150 will get a "beep beep" from the sounder. That double beep is an error message that means your car is not double locked. That's because double locking is not available on US market vehicles.
Double locking is not available on USA market vehicles because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) deemed it to be unsafe. Double locking is popular in Europe because it makes cars more difficult to steal. However, because the doors cannot be opened from the inside when double-locked, a small child, pet, or other passenger can be trapped inside and die from extreme heat.
When you double-lock your car, the beep-beep is an error message to tell you that your car is not double-locked. Visual confirmation that your car is locked is that your side mirrors automatically folded in, unless you disabled that feature or your car is not equipped with that feature.
That's how I originally understood it. I have never heard the sounder. That may only mean that it's faulty and the locking/beeping process is working. That being said, what caused the device to remain lit overnight with the car locked? This morning, after unlocking and then locking with 2 quick clicks, the device shut down in approx 30 minutes. It's not a big deal, there's a physical power switch on the device. There seems to be some differences in our cars.
Also, does the dash led blinking correlate to the number of remote clicks?
edit: I understand the function of the led/alarm

Not meant to offend but, when I' double click' my remote I do not get a beep beep, just a click click sound coming from the doors. There is a quicker drop in the ma draw but, I have found that when that draw is weighed against not 'locking' (it stays at home in the garage most times) my car's battery holds at 12.4 (yes I know, not 12.6) for several days before it starts dropping. If double clicked it drops daily.
I've given up trying to determine the culprit for the phantom draw my 2008 xk exhibits.

I don't get any noise other than the clicking of locks when I double mine either (08 XKR). Many times I'll have to turn around to see the turn signals flash to make sure it is locked. (Kids don't always shut the door properly as it is heavy)
Only annoying thing with the proximity unlocking. I can't go pull the handle to see if it is locked, unless I'm gonna toss my fob into the bushes or something.
If you don't hear a "beep beep" from your sounder when you double-lock your XK/XKR, it probably needs to be replaced. Your side mirrors will confirm that it's locked by automatically folding inward if your car has that option and it has been activated in the Vehicle Settings.
Here's how to locate the Sounder. The link is to another Jaguar forum in the UK. Save $$$ and buy the same part from Ford. Or to save even more, replace the internal battery in your defective Sounder
How did I find this? Simply do a Google search. Start by entering Jaguar X150 Forums followed by what you want to know. I Googled "Jaguar X150 Forums how to locate and replace the Sounder". Do it and read the AI response.

Your reply shows that you didn't keep your initial thought to yourself.
