For others interested in trying it out, don't turn the traction control completely off, I feathered the gas and still smoked the tires past the 60' line. Surprisingly my fastest run was with trac off and in D.

I definitely need better tires, the dealership I bought it from put the cheapest tires they could find on it, and they are 275/30 not 285's.

Today I just wanted to get a baseline and I was happy with what it ran. Now I can do some mods and see for sure what they yielded. Road and Track tested it and ran a 12.9 while motorweek tested and ran a 13.7. I was hoping to be closer to the R&T times and I was.

Thanks for all your advice. If your thinking about running yours, you should do it!!!

Just curious - what kind of 60' times were you getting? How many passes did you make? Have you looked at the correction factor for the track where you ran?

Glad to see you took the car to the drag strip and had some fun with it - that's what it's for after all!

Best 60' was 2.0. I made about 6 passes total. Not sure what the correction factor is for the track, but were pretty close to sea level, about 1/2 hour to the beach.

I've tried different launch techniques and my best time of 12.33@117 was holding the brake and revving to about 2500 RPM. Then releasing the brake and feathering the throttle until I was at full throttle.

When I was a kid just starting to drive my father had a 1959 Dodge Custom Royal with a 383Cu In 4BBL and 3 speed push button transmission. When I nailed it I was able to get rubber in 2nd gear. So when you did the track did you recall if it broke loose going into 2nd. I can't imagine not but you may have been to busy to hear the wheel spin.

My 60 on that run was 1.957.

Lets see what she does this Friday after the new tune!

Do you have a coupe or convertible? (Just curious, I wonder what sort of times my 'vert could get!)

Tires are very important! I got Sumitomo HTR Z III's a few weeks ago and they grip so much better than my Hankooks. What sort of tires were you running?

Mine is a coupe with 295/30/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Not exactly drag tires and the -1.7 camber doesn't help either. The track here is usually pretty sticky out of the box so traction is not to bad.

I have a coupe, 100% stock, except for the tires. The dealership I got it from put new tires on it, smaller than stock size and less traction too I'm sure.

Did the 2007 come with an open diff?

Who builds a RWD 400+ hp car with an open diff? What are my options to fix this?

I was hoping you were going to say 'vert, so I could brag that my 'vert is capable of doing the low 13s! But I think the 'vert is a couple hundred pounds heavier.

Yes, it came with an open diff. It's pretty terrible like that and bothers me as well.

There is an aftermarket LSD manufactured by a company called Quaife. I've looked into it before. I think you can get it installed for about $1500 at an indy shop.

Quaife is your only option. I have one in my XJR, totally transformed the car.

I bought mine in the UK, but there is some good info here for those in the US https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...arings-102296/

Well an open diff really sucks on the strip. Luckily I only go there after I do upgrades so I guess I can wait a while for the good stuff. When I put an LSD in the Lincoln it was a crazy difference in traction.

I think my first mod will be exhaust, I cant stand not hearing the performance this car puts out.

The exhaust was my first mod. You definitely need to hear that V8. I am now looking at doing the supercharger top pulley mod. Its relatively easy to do and seems good bang for buck. Haven't taken mine on to the track yet. But will be once the pulley is done. Sounds like you had a blast so looking forward to it. Good luck with the mods.

Muncher, take it to Taupo, Hampton Downs or Pukekohe and put some laps on it!
