Default Dual Clutch Tranny........

Eventhough the current XK/XKR has one of the best torque converter tranny......this is why the next gen XK/XKR should have Dual Clutch Tranny......

997TT MKII PDK (500HP) vs. XKR (510HP). Granted the XKR is 400 lbs heavier but it should be closer with more HP. The PDK Turbo pulls away easily: YouTube - ‪Jaguar XKR 510 HP vs Porsche 911 Turbo PDK‬‏

GTR DCT (480HP) vs XKR (510HP). Both practically the same weight but XKR has more HP.....GTR pulls away with less HP: YouTube - ‪1080p: Nissan GTR vs Jaguar XKR 5,0 Kompressor‬‏

997TT MKI MN6 (480HP) vs XKR (510HP). XKR can hang with the stick 911TT MK I: YouTube - ‪1080p: Jaguar XKR 5,0 Coupe vs Porsche 911 Turbo (997 Mk I) 6-speed‬‏

AWD shouldn't be an issue as they are running from a roll (not a stand still). Jaguar.....put in the Dual Clutch on 2013 next generation XK/XKRs!!!

The PDK matchup isn't even fair, its as fast as a zr1. I think the GTR might have started before the Jag because I have a hard time believing it pulled that hard on 510 hp. Reguardless, your right about needing the dual clutch tranny.
Heres another race vs a 911 turbo:

Then again this is a GT car and not an all out supercar. It does well against cars in its class.

I wonder how much that will add to the cost of the car??

Good video...which shows how much faster the PDK (Dual Clutch) is compared to the red 911 Turbo's Tiptronic (Torque Converter Tranny) MK I. Although the PDK is 20HP more than this MK I.

I do understand the XKRs are GTs (ironic that the GTR has GT in it) but the XKR seems to have a better power/weight ratio than the GTR but still falls behind.

Lets just hope Jaguar brings on the Dual Clutch soon!!!!

Tom.....according to Porsche...the PDK is a $4,550 option.

I'm not convinced that the faster acceleration of the Porsches and GTR is due solely to their dual clutch trannys, without knowing other specs. How do gear ratios compare? What about awd (GTR, Turbo) v. rwd (XKR); launch control, etc.?

Comparing an XKR to these cars is apples to oranges; they're different breeds for different purposes. I'll take quick, comfortable, and gorgeous over fast, harsh and ugly.

Auto manufacturers are continually improving the breed. I expect Jaguar to eventually have a dual clutch tranny, provided it improves fuel economy and is smooth and reliable - and if they can source it from ZF.

C and D recently tested for this, I'll see if I can dig up the issue. They comp'd 2 new 911 Turbo S's, one six speed and other PDK, if I remember correctly the PDK was about 1-2/10th's quicker 0-60 and trap speeds at the end of the QM were almost identical. I believe both cars had launch control however. I am a big fan of the R cars having DCT gearboxes.
