I just had to replace my coolant expansion tank. I thought I would have a wire connected on the bottom for the temp and level but there isn't one. I have the connector plugged into the tank but there are no wires. Is that normal for an 07? If no, where would that connection be coming from?
I am pretty sure that is normal for the early models... This was discussed a few months back from a member with an early model that was replacing some coolant parts... I believe the 5.0 cars have a low coolant sensor that is wired... you could probably find in a search...

The 4.2 Workshop Manual is very light on information regarding coolant level monitoring. The 5.0 Workshop Manual is more detailed.
The 5.0 Workshop Manual states "If the coolant level in the expansion tank decreases below a predetermined value, the level sensor connects a ground to the instrument cluster, which activates the appropriate warning. For additional information, refer to 413-01 Instrument Cluster." The additional information only describes the displayed warning:
The Electrical Schematic shows the following pinouts to the brake fluid level and coolant level (relevant part of the IP shown boxed in red):
Brake fluid level on the left and coolant level on the right. Brake fluid setup looks as expected but coolant level on the right ..... via Yellow/Blue wire to another Switch-brake-Fluid level. Presumably should read Switch-coolant level but if the harness connector isn't on the sensor, where is it?
This goes back to my theory that the 4.2 does not actually have a level sensor in the coolant tank, at least not a functional one. The manual never mentions anything about the sensor except that it's fitted into the coolant tank. No troubleshooting, diagnosis or anything.
The only way to notify you on low coolant is to put the car in 'restricted performance' mode, as I experienced in my other thread.
If you are not getting any messages or codes and the car is running fine then don't worry about it.
The temp sensor is fitted in the coolant manifold (at least on XKR models).
I am awaiting a replacement coolant tank and on the presunption it will have a level sensor, I would like to use it to create an alarm.
Does anyone know the connector required? the photo of the tank shows an oval blue socket with 2 male pins, so I assume I need an oval female plug, I have looked online and there are 1000's of plugs. Any ideas please

Have you tried calling a breaker yard? They are wired as such in the 5.0 models so the female connector should be found in every 5.0 liter in a junk yard.
I'm with @guy though. Open the hood, check oil and coolant once a week. Tire pressure depending on driving frequency temp changes.
Another option is to add one of dozens of apps to your phone (Torque Pro etc) place a BT dongle in the OBDII port, set an alarm for coolant temp in the app. It won't check your level but it will let you know if you're overheating.

I second this. Love my Veepak dongle and (iOS) Car Scanner OBD app.
Being new to XKR ownership, I’m still head on a swivel.
Perhaps even a bit paranoid after spending a year on this forum reading prior to purchase.
That said, coolant temp and battery are spot on and even in the hardest of driving, LT trim never goes above 2. Hovers at 0-.7 at idle, which tells me no vacuum leaks.
Peace of mind is so worth the <$40.
