Thanks Bill400! Very useful especially with the great pictures.
After my cover broke one of the mountings off and I lost another rubber grommet. I have been on the hunt for replacement items.
Here is my thread with what I have found so far. Engine Cover Grommets
Looks like our BMW friends also use the exact same rubber grommet!
BMW-13717588501. Also had a JLR C2Z25071 mentioned but no one has posted if they are correct or not.
The BMW ones are an exact match if that's important.
Here is the top;
Here is the bottom;
The plastic mounting bracket that holds the rubber grommet sheared off my CF cover for some reason and gluing plastic has always been a fail for me.
Until now! JB Weld has many products out and the descriptions are confusing too. But I purchased "J-B Weld 50139 Plastic Bonder Body Panel Adhesive and Gap Filler".
For around $8.
I circled what caught my eye. For CF and Thermoplastics! Just what I was looking for. It worked very well and the left over adhesive would not break even when flexed 180 degrees. Never seen anything so strong AND flexible. Now will it hold up? I don't know yet.
Still no luck on the rear rubber items. JLR does sell the entire bracket with what I "think" are the 2 rubber items but the drawings are not clear as usual.
The entire bracket is C2D3968 and not expensive at around $35. Found several used as there is nothing to wear out but used they still want $30 plus postage.
If anyone knows what the end rubber pieces are please post!
Don?t know I just took the grommet and told him it was from an xk engine cover.
Bill Talley Ford in Mechanicsville, VA won't give you the time of day without a FORD make/model and/or FORD part number.
They will agree to do XK wheel alignments and oil changes (if an oil filter is on hand) in their "Quick Service" area as a non-Ford product.
But they make it clear that they are doing you a favor and that you should really go to a Jaguar dealer.
In fairness, they are trying to be efficient. Most don't know that Jaguar was under Ford ownership through 2008.
That was almost 20 years ago!
Prior to my first Jaguar, I did not appreciate Ford.
However, after getting down to the nuts & bolts and dissecting SDD, I realize that Jaguar would have died around the year 2000 without the massive infusion of technology and cash from FOMOCO.
Ford made Jaguar a world class automobile manufacturer.
So, if my local dealer doesn't want my XK business, I'm not offended.
