Engine replacement
Yes! It would take more than a block at this point AND still not worth the effort...
Thanks for the feedback. If I could do it for less than $3000 would that change your mind? What else concerns you? Are there structural differences between the cars that would be problematic?
I have a couple of quotes. One for $3500 and another for $2900, if I supply the engine which I have identified with the same price for an 5.0L NA and Supercharger. What concerns should I point out to be sure something is not overlooked because it is a supercharger if I go that route?
Most of the electronic controls, all of the addition pieces for the intercooler system, all of the different intake pieces...
do I really need to go on?
Either get a new/used good condition NA engine or sell what you have and move on.

The XKR engine would throw so many fault codes that the car probably wouldn't even turn on. Completely forget about driving it, none of the modules would know what the kkkk was happening.
@LoveMy2010XK Ok, I think that I get it now. You have an emotional attachment to THAT car.
The community has given you great advice based on experience. The advice reflects understanding of automotive economics and alternative opportunity.
If you do have an emotional attachment and that is driving your decision to replace the engine, know that it is unlikely that you will save much, if any, money verses vehicle replacement.
Also know that you may incur issues with or related to the replacement engine.
However, if you are sure that a replacement engine is your choice, find the lowest miles NA 5.0L available.
If you can buy locally, visit the yard and talk to the folks. It may be possible to hear the engine start and run.
Salvage auctions often record engines running. Ask if that information is available.
Engines over 75K miles: Replace cam chain guides with the last OEM improved version.
Replace front and rear main seals and water pump for best results.
PS: Although Ford 5.0Ls don't work, other JLR NA 5.0L do. XF, XJ, Land Rover.
Good luck.
Keep us posted on your results.
