The objective was to get that wonderful quad exhaust look on a stock 07 XK without the noise and undue expense or mayhem to the car.

1. Remove stock bumper cover lower extension - 2 bolts & 8 tab connections. This is trim piece between tips we used to call a "valance".

2. Install 07 XKR cover extension part # C2P8245, $65.59 including freight from Nalley.

3. Tack weld add'l tips (DC Sports EX-1012) from Advance Auto) to OEM tips.$50/pair plus $20 for welding.

Notes on tip selection:

OEM tips not avail from Jag unless you buy $1700 complete muffler assby. Auto dismantlers/Jag owners reluctant to sell tips alone in favor of complete assby. The one willing outfit quoted $175 the pair.

OEM tips difficult to match due to subtle oval slant design. Cat. specs for after mkt tips do not include slant angle and ovals are too severe.

The XE 1012 has the same round 3 3/4" OD as the horizontal OD on the QEM tips.

Notes on installation:

Install the EX 1012 slightly canted so slant angel is approximated. You must cut off the inlet 3 5/8" to get the fit.
I installed my add'l tips slightly extended 3/8" as they looked better that way and any disparity in slant angle is disguised.

No offense intended. All our cars have faux performance and cosmetic flourishes, including yours.

 

Can't wait to see! Sounds like the route I'll go instead of the whole exhaut. I like the way the stock muffler looks.
