Default flashing center display

I pulled my 2008 xk into the garage last week. Started it up several days later and moved it @ 15 feet and shut it off. I noticed that the center console jaguar logo was flashing. I double locked the car and the flashing continued for another 10~15 minutes then stopped.
I started it up yesterday and the flashing started again. When flashing I have no control of the radio, and other settings. Checked the battery voltage and it read 11.9. Put in on a 10 amp charger for several hours, checked voltage a bit later and had 12.8~12.9. Started the car and the flashing continued. Put the ctek on it last evening, checked voltage this AM, 12.8. Drove it today 70 miles. The flashing continues.
I'll pull the cables tomorrow and do a reset. Any thoughts about what happened? Should I be looking for a new ...?

I realize that some folks are a bit slow, but I believe everyone gets it now. Well said, ITBS!

Because it happens so often, I recommend that Forum Administration add a new Smiley for ITBS, similar to .

@wymjym If you have anything plugged into the OBDII port, remove it after you turn off the ignition. If that or a hard reset doesn't help, I'm out of suggestions.

You stated: "I double locked the car ... ". Actually, you didn't.

All USA market JLR vehicles have double-locking disabled from the factory, as it violates US law. If you try to "double lock" your X150, you will get a "beep beep" from the sounder, which is an error message that means your car is not double locked. Double locking prevents the doors from being opened from the inside, as well as the outside.

Double locking is not available on USA market vehicles because the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration deemed it to be unsafe. Double locking is popular in Europe because it makes cars more difficult to steal. However, because the doors cannot be opened from the inside when double-locked, a small child or other person can be trapped inside and die from extreme heat.

Visual confirmation that your car is locked is that your side mirrors have automatically folded in, unless you disabled that feature or your car is not equipped with it.

and do let the battery rest without charging, for 6 hours prior to taking a reading.
12.8 v is rarely an accurate reading for a 12v battery. Typically a fully charged battery is 12.6v.

And I’m afraid that this IS a case of a failing battery…

Well a failing battery would make me more comfortable than some module problem.
I think the battery was replaced in Feb.
Hope the reset works.

The reset did work! Woohoo!!!
I measured voltage this morning. 12.4, 5 hours later 12.2. The is nothing in the port.
Also, measured residual voltage in system after disconndiscon.04 v, 5 minutes later-.025, 20 minutes later -0.0.
now I must find key fob, it got installed in trunk somewhere.

Glad your reset worked for you.
12.2 v is the sure sign of a failed battery.

Cheers.

As I indicated, less than 6 mo old. I'll try to negotiate a good allowance for agm rather than bother them every xxx months.

Dat's good news - what you need to is check the parasitic current drain with a digital multi-meter - if your battery is only 6 months old and the voltage is dropping parasitic drain could be yer problem - mine was 6 milliamps when I checked years ago.

This Forum proves that X150 electrical gremlins are usually caused of by a low or dying battery.

I had to google that - The iliotibial band (IT band) is a thick band of fibrous tissue that runs along the outside of the leg from the hip to the top of the shinbone.

Voltage the next morning, 12.4~.5.
I have always needed to keep a tender on the battery as there is always a measurable loss of V every day the car is not driven.
My use of term double locked is meant to connote clicking the lock button twice. If I do that there is an immediate drop in the power being consumed.
Drove
Drove to see a friend yesterday, 200 + miles, the car ran great and since the reset even the tpms system was acting nice and not giving me the tire low dance.

glad its working out for you but … more bad news for you…. a reading of 12.4v on an agm battery means it has about 50% of its designed capacity.

This is still the wet one, but I plan on swapping out soon-ish.

Interesting, mine's always had superlock (double press) and folding mirrors enabled...
