The shirt had been in my closet waiting for embroidery. I forgot about it but after buying the new to me XK I went looking for it. Threw it on the embroidery machine yesterday and used the Sapphire Blue for the Leaping Jag to match my car.
I'm in the middle of recovering my headliner. The new material is a little different color than my factory headliner. So I am thinking about recovering the sun visors to match. If I do the sun visors I plan to embroider them with the Leaping Jag logo in the same color as the visors for a ghost effect. Should look better than the factory air bag stickers.
Craniac,
Can you say where you sourced the new headliner from?
I had connected with another member here but didn't receive the samples.
Thanks
I researched this Forum for the wisdom of others. Several threads suggested a material called "Passion Suede". Found a seller on E Bay (Fabric Empire). Two yards was $22 and change. If you search long enough you can probably find a better deal. I ordered the "Cream" color because it looked close. There may be a better color choice. But I got tired of looking for the "Perfect" color at the best price and just ordered. If you can find a local supplier, it would be simple to remove a visor and take it into the store to get a color match.
There are literally hundreds of suppliers on the 'net for Passion Suede.
Just tried installing the passion suede. The spray adhesive came out is a spray mixed with small ***** of glue (3M Super 77). The ***** bleed through the suede and show as dark spots. Two yards is not enough for a second try. Need to order more. Perhaps waiting for the ***** to completely dry would work. I will experiment with my scraps.
I had connected with him last year and he was going to send samples but I had never received them. Don't know if they got lost in the mail (cross country) but didn't want to pester him.

Super 77 will NOT work. I do believe it states such on the back of the can.
Super 90 should to the trick though.

Thanks for the heads up Bought it at the Home Despot and figured 3M should be good. Could NOT read the fine print on the label. Maybe I missed bold print while trying to read the fine print
Took one sun visor apart. I do not think the Passion Suede is stretchy enough to work the way the factory covered the visor. I may try to find some foam backed stretchy suede.
Gorilla Spray Adhesive had good reviews for headliners also available at Home Despot.
I live in Roswell NM. I will try Hobby Lobby to see if they have material.
I do do not want 1/8 thick foam I would prefer 1/16 inch.
Retiring in a couple weeks, so was cleaning out my office this weekend and found a hat I bought on eBay a few years ago. Maybe you’re going to do something like this on your sun visors?

That's the idea. I can do a Leaping Jag about six inches across. Still haven't decided if I want the text or just the Jag.

We've been talking for 2 weeks, and should have 3 yards of passion suede shipping out this week. He must have been busy if you two didn't connect - I'd try again if you still need it.
New sewing machines can be programmed from a photo to do embroidering on nearly any material. Embroidered is SO much better than a sew-on patch.
Any decent tailoring shop could do it for little money.
this thread reminded me of an old project I never started short of obtaining some materials.
I saw this shirt at a car race and while I never planned on wearing it I loved the graphics and wanted to make some sort of wall art.
Maybe cut out the back and frame it, maybe find a mannequin and dress it with this shirt, a proper tweed cap and find a spot in my garage.
It is an XL and the area is @ 17" wide, certainly frame able.

Any thoughts on this?

Hobby Lobby always has 50 percent off on frames. They also sell precut mats in the framing section. It should be easy to find a frame and mat that would fit and look good with your home decor.
