Congrats on the pending retirement, amigo.

The look I'm going for. Had it all back together and realized I put the cat on upside down. I have about 150 colors of thread and this is the closest I could find. Really wanted something closer.

Hmmm, but it’s right side up when viewed from outside the car when the visor is down.

That looks great! It's what the factory forgot. Can you do it on the leather headrests? I realize that some headrests came from the factory with the embossed Leaper logo, but this might be a business opportunity for you.

The logo is a little over 5,000 stitches. I afraid to embroider leather because it might tear out along the perforated line. I know others do embroider leather. Either they don't worry about it tearing or they use a much thicker thread that requires fewer stitches (or both).

I removed the air bag label from the mirror. I started with lacquer thinner and it was slowly removing the label but it was also melting the plastic. So I switched to a sine grit sandpaper. Looks pretty good. Definitely better than the warning label.

I can’t seem to picture how you used sandpaper to remove the label. You just sanded through it until the label disappeared into powder? Otherwise not sure how you used it to separate the label from the fabric.

EDIT: Ok, you can now tell I haven’t been in my car for awhile. Your other thread posting leads me to think that the label was actually on the mirror cover plastic, not the fabric. Makes more sense now.

My US spec XK had four Air Bag warning labels on the visors. One on the fabric and one on the hard plastic for the mirror (two on each visor for a total of four). I replaced the fabric cover with fabric I embroidered myself. I then decided to remove the label that is on the mirror. Lacquer thinner was working but I was afraid that it would do permanent damage to the mirror cover. So I just used sandpaper to remove the label on the mirror cover. Then a quick wipe with the lacquer thinner to make the mirror door a little shinier than the sanded surface.

Now all four labels are history.

I bought two of these, they took a few weeks to get to me but I was pleased with the quality of the shirt and the embroidery.

Couldn't bring myself to throw away the mistakes on recovering the visors so...
