Default Front Licence plate bracket

Hello friends,

I just got my set of plates for my '07 XKR. The previous owner did not have a license plate bracket on the front of the car, which is required by the state of Texas. Does anyone have advice on procuring hardware to properly mount the front license plate? Thanks! Lenny

Don't ruin the car; take the tickets.

Tom all Jaguars come with the front plate adaptor/mount. Part of the PDI done at the dealer is to attach it for states requiring a front plate. In states that do not it is left off. A good dealer tech will leave the mount in the boot but often they are discarded. If you call a dealer in a state that does not require a front plate I am sure they will sell --or give--you one. Also the mount has a PN so you could order one. Should not be a big issue to overcome.

If you don't want to drill any holes in the car, and I didn't, you can get a plate holder that attaches where the front tow hook would attach. Sure, the plate is off-center, but no new holes in the car.

I think some people with front proximity sensors had problems with that style of plate holder perpetually 'warning' them that they were close to something. The beeping would drive me nuts.

I used a manual "Show N Go" license plate mount. They're not expensive, mount to the "skid plate" (can't think of the actual term at the moment) under your front end, and can be retracted for ease when washing your car or if you want to show the car w/o the plate showing.

I purchased mine a couple of years ago and it has performed well. Very minimal install effort, and it does not reduce the front end clearance by much at all. There are motorized versions of this product as well, but I have no experience with those.

I too have the "show 'n Go" bracket. Installs easily, had to drill one 5/16" hole in the belly pan. It stows away (folds under the pan) if you chose to go commando. Ha, Ha, Ha..
I chose the center since the oil coolers are on either side of the middle.
Has worked like a champ for me...

This is exactly what I was looking for! I've already ordered mine on Amazon. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

It takes away from the beautiful looks of the front of the car.

This is great, just purchased my '12 XK, and live in MD, so it's looking like I'll need the from plate as well. Such a shame to drill holes in the front bumper.

The easy way to mount the Jaguar bracket is to get a piece of aluminum angle at a hardware store. Cut it the size of the plate holder. Drill 2 holes UNDER ( without the plate mount you can't see these holes) the center section of the bumper cover. Screw the angle UNDER the cover. Drill 2 holes in the aluminum angle to fit the plate holder . Put a piece of double sided foam tape on the back of the plate holder. Mount the holder and mount the plate and frame. Done and you saved the front bumper cover for the next owner.

You should also consider the brackets from Skene Design:

I have used them on several cars and they are great.

Looks good and if I would have seen them a few years ago I would have bought a pair. Good idea.

Yeah, they appear to be a nice alternative to "poke'n holes". Though, I'm still happy with my hideaway version.
