As you can see @Pompa , different strokes for different folks.

Like fluids, bushings, filters,... I treat my brakes as a full maintenance item. From experience I can tell you I’m happiest with new pads, replaced before they are “scratching” or squealing and discs replaced about every 60k kms or so. I won’t play the game of turning them.

Rumor has it EBC is a quality product (just like K&N, they self profess very well) But @jahummer lays out the actual OE providers.
Also do keep in mind, many compare their new brakes installation to the worn out factory they were replacing... not really a fair comparison.

 

Just to further complicate things, I’ve seen semi-stuck caliper pistons apply uneven pressure to brake pads which caused uneven rotor wear.

Personally over the years I’ve been through many rotors and the only pulsing issue I’ve encountered was pad material build up. As I’d said previously, a good scuffing with coarse grit sanding cloth solved that problem, sometimes heavy and hard braking can too. I don’t go by mileage as distance really isn't any good indicator of wear, instead I use a thickness gauge to compare what the manufacturer states as acceptable.

I've got some wobbling through the steering wheel under braking just now but only once I've been driving for a while and the brakes are presumably up to temperature. From cold start they're fine. I know both my front upper wishbone balljoints are worn as they have some play and I can hear a knocking sound from either side if I hit a bump in the road. Could that be the reason for the wobbly steering under braking?

If it is just pad deposits on the discs, how could I go about cleaning that off? I'm using Jurid White ceramic compound pads.

 

Don't know about them pads , but try the bedding in procedure see if that removes deposits failing that I would sandpaper

 

An update on the brake disc, noise, vibration etc.

It's been checked by a Jaguar dealership and they've identified two warped discs on the front. They've also established that the pads were genuine O.E. whereas the discs were aftermarket. They provided me with measurements of "run out" and video'd the heat marks on the discs.

I've managed to obtain a set of genuine discs ( None of the Jaguar dealerships have any it would appear, and have no idea of when they'll be ariving ) and the dealership will fit them for me next week.

So, it's wait and see now. I'll report back with the results of fitting the new discs.
