Default Good wheel product--for me

Like many other owners, I've had trouble with brake dust on my 2010 XKR. On the fronts, in particular, I noticed that the dust seemed almost to caramelize while driving, changing from a black dust to a streaky brown film.

I changed my winter tires and wheels (19" Tamana rims) for my summer tires and wheels (20" Kalimnos rims) in March. Before I mounted the summer rims, I cleaned them thoroughly and then applied a two coats of Armor All Wheel Protectant based on a recommendation from another site.

After ~1,500 miles of driving and at least five or six washings, the Armor All is still working. At the worst, the wheels get little pockets of black dust between the spokes at the rims. This comes off with nothing more than a bit of warm water and a terry towel at the end of the wash. A couple of times, the rears have needed no hand work at all. In between washes, they maintain their brilliant shiny and sparkly look very well. They even seem to clean themselves in heavy rain rather than get darker and dirtier.

Please note--I am not a shill for Armor All. I outgrew the shiny black dash and tire look about 25 years ago, and this is the only Armor All product I own and use. I have been more than pleasantly surprised by the performance of this product, and I thought my experience might be useful to other owners who have struggled to keep their wheels clean.

Ditto on your experience with ArmorAll wheel protectant.

FWIW There is a similar product out there by Eagle One called "Keep Clean Wheel". For me it was marginally more effective than ArmorAll and cheaper too.

I have the 19" wheels, and the first time I tried to clean them I used a special wheel cleaning spray with a rag. But on one wheel I used the rag before the spray and the wheel came clean - and with less effort. I don't know if the wheels were ever treated. Now I just use the rag. It is still a chore with all the spokes, but the dust sure comes off easy.
