So my GPS has stopped working, it's the aerial that needs replacement. I know there are two types and I've just been to the car to see which one it is so I can track one down and replace it.
I understand it's in the rear spoiler which has to be removed for it to be replaced.
I have removed the cover panel for the boot lid, I can see the bolts.
I understand from the service manual that the third or high level brake light needs to come out, but the screws won't undo - they just spin and even lifting it slightly while I try the screws is doing nothing for me.
Does anyone have any advice for how to remove these two screws? Can the spoiler be removed without taking the light out first? Any advice appreciated. thanks.
You're talking about the screws going through the plastic on top, right? The ones beneath the red caps on the light's top edge? They screw into captive nut plates, so maybe just lift a bit harder on the light while unscrewing. I can't see the nutplates breaking.

I am guessing that you are also aware that you can replace the GPS antenna with a new antenna plus a FAKRA adapter which cost £10 each and which do not require any dismantling?

interesting, I was not aware. I’ve had a read of the thread but it doesn’t make any sense to me other than it’s an aftermarket aerial that’s being plugged in. Where to source one and which one etc I have no idea as there’s no info on that thread. But knowing they’re out there is good to know.

£20 and 5 minutes to fit. The antenna is magnetic so I just positioned it on top of the DVD chassis. It receives a full signal and will never be subject to rainwater corrosion like the Jaguar fitment.

that’s really cool. Thanks for that. Might get one as a back up. I’ve already purchased a replacement from Jaguar, and was going to look at waterproofing that or relocating it. Might get one of these as well though.
