Default Headlight washer jet - how is it attached?

Hello, I’m finishing off a repair to my 2014 XK which includes the installation of new headlight washer jets. I have encountered a problem with the fitment of the washer jet to the bumper. The bumper has two holes on its inside face but the washer jet has two slots and I can’t see how the jet attaches. Please would you advise me and any photos of the fitment would be great. A couple of photos of my predicament are attached. Thank you

Are you certain you got the 2012+ washers? The pre-2012 cars had a totally different setup that attach directly to the headlight assemblies.

+1

Like Cee Jay that wasn't what I expected on a 2014.

However, your second photo clearly shows two raised threaded mouldings for something to screw into. The Workshop Manual illustration (see lower drawing) shows a flat bracket which secures the washer with two screws.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I am fairly confident that I have the correct washer jets as they were supplied directly from Jaguar but I am double checking right now because of your question. I’ll report back …

Good morning, thank you also for taking the time to reply. The illustrations from the workshop manual are for the earlier version where the washer jet is attached to the headlight unit rather than the bumper skin as in the later model. I note that you have the same model as me and I’m inspired by your photo. Thank you

from the photo when I had the front off, it looks you’re missing a mounting bracket that the jet assembly clips into.

Thanks very much for this photo. It clearly shows that I’m missing a bracket and that the washer jet I’ve got is probably the correct one. Back to Jaguar as I’m thinking these are unlikely to be available second hand. Much appreciate your help

That bracket isn't listed separately in the Parts Catalogue under either headlamp or front bumper.

To add the context, here are photos showing how the car looked when I started and the second one, how it looks today. Not far to go now …

Time to hit a breaker's yard! Wow, that assembly is more complicated than I thought it would be.

So you apparently didn’t get the original smashed bumper with the car. Too bad, then you might have had the original brackets to work with (even if broken). Well done so far. Back on the road soon.

£60 each from Jaguar but found a new one on Ebay for £20. Unavailable second hand because people prefer to sell the entire bumper assembly. Therefore, have ordered one from Jaguar and the one from eBay.

Agreed, it would have been a little easier even if broken but all broken parts had been disposed of by the time I collected the car.

Fitting headlights while I now wait for washer brackets. There’ll be a little more panel gapping required because the wings were repaired (welded at the front corner) rather than replaced and shape may not conform exactly to the original.

Any information on how you were able to acquire that part, I’d greatly appreciate the feedback, I hit a box that was on the freeway and it took out my bumper and the left side washer jet nozzle, I got the exact part as you but it didn’t come with bracket to attach to bumper
