Default Headlight washer cover

Hello,

I need help fitting back the headlight washer cover on my 2008 X-Type as I used the washer and the whole bumper was frozen.
Can someone please tell me how to pull out the headlight sprinkler so that I can put the cover back? It is still attached to the sprinkler on one side andI may have to glue the other side.

Thank you!

R.

Take care when you look at this.
The washer cover is fixed on using a sort of cruciform shaped piece of plastic that forms a sort of tiny universal joint ... allowing the cover to sit comfortably against the bumper when retracted.
This cruciform can sometimes become brittle and break. This can also happen to the lugs into which the cruciform clips. So take care, don't force anything and possibly have some araldite two part resin or some two part epoxy putty to hand in case a repair is needed / possible.

I was thinking of the two part resin myself but to get there I need to retract the assembly out of the bumper. How is it done?
The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that I saw the ice and thought that is bad for the washers and not later than 1/2hour I used the washer and the headlights were on auto-on. Does anyone have a workarround so that we can can use the headlights washer only when mean to?

you just pull it out?? I'm afraid it is going to break[sm=boohoo.gif]

I tried starting the washing and then imediately taking off the ignition. It didn't work.

Please advice on how to trick the headlight washer out.

Thank you!

I am afraid to pull it out or use force since I have a tendency to break stuff even more trying to repair.
Does anyone have a repair manual to scan the section about the issue in discution? Or, is it available on internet?
How do you grab it in order to pull it out?The jointlooks very flimsy.

I did it.
Just pulled it out and everything is obvious. Just applied the 2part epoxy and wait to dry.
I called the dealer and they do not supply the cruciform joint alone. I have to buy the whole assembly (cover+joint+sprinklers) 55 EUR+VAT... and I will do so if the repair does not work.

Thank you all!

Grab it with some needle nose pliers or something that can get a hold of the sprayer.... and pull! It comes right out and it won't break. I had to replace one of my covers before, so I know.

I have done mine today, 2 x aluminium cruciforms. Get a shoe lace, or string, loop it over the washer, pull gently and it will come out. You will have to hold it while you fit the cruciforms and covers. I fitted cruciforms to covers, then to the washer, let go and they retract.......
