Default Headlights too bright?

Does anyone else experience oncoming drivers flicking lights at you, as if your low beams are bright enough to be mistaken for high beams?

This happened to me twice last night, and a few other times in the past. I wonder if my headlights might need adjustment. I see the adaptive beams calibrate when I start the car, but they might need a tweak?

They're the best headlights of any car I've ever owned, so perhaps there's nothing "wrong" with them and they're just much brighter than other drivers expect, but I wanted to check the knowledge base here.

Wow, yours is the first ‘too bright’ post I’ve read. An occasional too dim, or not shining far enough.
Maybe your butt is dragging, pointing your front end up?

Flashing lights from incoming cars means that one or both of your headlights are too high. Assuming that you have no suspension problems and you have nothing in the boot (trunk), your headlights need adjustment . Before you try to do so, make sure to do the headlight self-test that occurs at startup. The lamps should do the cross eyed dip and then recenter when you turn them on.

If they don't pass the startup test, see: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ailure-273017/

You're in GB, so the following advice may need adjustment (pun intended). See:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ustment-12354/

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...stment-206890/

Hope this helps!

Remember, just like any other headlight, there are manual adjustment screws (top face of the headlamp units) to set the base adjustment. Use these to point the light beam down a bit or take it into a garage with a level checker and get it adjusted officially. 1% dip is normal IIRC but you might be able to get a way with a little less especially with the better bulbs that focus better, giving you a longer throw without blinding oncoming traffic..

equatorial - apparently you’ve never driven a Matrix (Audi name) LED / laser equipped car? I have and they’re on an entire ‘nother’ level. That being said, first thing I’d do would do is learn how or have a facility local to you adjust the lights properly. Daniel Stern Lighting is an excellent source for info and parts.
