Help! 2013 XKR Special edition
I recently purchased a 2013 XKR Special Edition. From what I have found on the web, this car was not supposed to be offered in the US. Does anyone know if in fact these cars were made available in the US or does anyone have a friend at Jaguar who could help me find out? My dealer is puzzled as well as to how it got here. According to the brochure and the accessories brochure, it couldn't have been put together from options or accessories, because the interior package isn't even listed. Any help would be appreciated. Last of VIN is B49666.

Dale,
To the best of my recollection, I believe your 2013 XKR may be a "Poltrona Frau" Special Edition, which was a special-order US model with a unique leather headliner and leather upholstery.
Please post pictures of badging, door sills, and anything else that makes your car uniquely a "2013 XKR Special Edition".
You can also direct your inquiry to Jaguar USA at CONTACT US
If this was helpful, please press at the bottom right.

With some help from the UK, it appears the Special Edition in the UK and the Portfolio in the US are identical. Why the articles on the web say the SE wasn't coming to the US, I don't know. My factory build sheet and door sills make no mention of Portfolio, but instead call it a Special Edition. However, youtube video shows a Portfolio with Special Edition sill plates.
The car is Polaris White, 20" Polished Oronas, performance brakes, performance exhaust, chrome grill, trunk lid plinth and mirror covers, Shadow Walnut wood trim, Truffle interior and Poltrona Frau leather headliner in canvas. I'll attach pictures. I'll also contact Jaguar through Contact Us as suggested. The phone hasn't been successful. Thank everyone for your interest and replies.

I cannot tell you what it is, but I can tell you what it is not. One of our friends thought it may be a Poltrano Frau. Unfortunately it is not even though it appears to have the Poltrano Frau headliner (absolutely gorgeous is it not?).
The Poltrano Frau model was only made in 2011 and totaled 18 vehicles. It is strange to me that Jaguar named the model after the Italian leather company that did the headliner even though the beauty of the car was that it was identical to Ian McCullams (sp) personal car.
Do not hold your breathe with Jaguar. I contacted then to determine which of the 18 2011 Poltrano Frau's I had ( was hoping for number 1 or 18)
, They responded that they do not have build sheets like Ford or Chevy in their records.
Interesting to me is the fact that this special edition did not come with the additional splitter/fascia that most special editions appear to have. Regardless, it is so pretty to look at.

The modern Jag special editions don't have dedicated VIN ranges like they did back in the day's of the Lightweight E-Type, for example. They're just built on the line as the orders come in, and they're allocated the next available VIN for the model. You'd only be able to find out where yours is in the sequence if you knew the VIN of every Poltrano Frau built.

It was introduced in the 2013MY US press kit:
New Portfolio Pack for XK and XKR
The 2013 XK Portfolio Pack applies the designer's custom touch, offering five recommended exterior colors. Chrome mirror caps, exclusive to the XK Portfolio Pack, and a chrome-mesh grille add gleaming but elegantly restrained bright work. A choice of seven colors for the XK Convertible's soft-top allows further customization.
Inside, the XK Portfolio Pack presents the choice between two exclusive interior themes, Navy and Truffle, each featuring contrast stitching and handcrafted soft-grain leather for the 16-way power-adjustable, heated and cooled front seats and steering wheel. With either theme, the customer can choose between hand-polished Shadow Walnut or Dark Figured Aluminum interior trim.
Overhead, the Portfolio Pack adds a handcrafted leather headliner made by Poltrona Frau of Italy, a feature borrowed from the limited-production XKR-S. Stainless steel pedals and doorsill scuff plates and leather trimmed floor mats complete the package.

2013 Special Edition
Thanks for the info newXF. If I may make a shameless plug for the folks at JagDocs, The Source for Jaguar Documentation!. They may already be on the forums-I haven't looked. Not only was I able to get the 2013 XKR Brochure, but the accessories brochure for 2013. All digital and less than $10, but more than that they took the time to investigate, sent an MSRP list for that year and directed me to other sources of info about this car. Great folks to contact for factory brochures on your cars.
No, it is definitely not a Callum edition. What's confusing is at least 3 articles stating the Special Edition wouldn't be coming to America. Technically true - it's apparently a Portfolio here, with Special Edition sill plates and Special Edition on the build sheet, not Portfolio. So maybe like bucks and dollars, 2 different words for the same thing. However, I have the Jet Suedecloth steering wheel which the price list says isn't available with the Portfolio Package. It also appears to have the 10mm lower suspension, part of the Dynamic Pack which I don't have. So, maybe it's a Special Edition Portfolio Plus. In any event I'm very happy with it and don't expect I'll be seeing one on every corner. Waiting to see what Jaguar will have to say about it.
Also, someone said Jaguar doesn't have build sheets. Maybe not as detailed as Chevy or Ford, but pretty close. You can get the best copy from your service manager. Otherwise here at Topix Home | TOPIx. That takes you to the US site, but you get to the rest from there I believe. Just set up an account for yourself.
Thanks for everyone's input.

Thanks, Lothar52. Not sure I'm that brave. Having been a hotrodder in my youth, I tend to leave things to the factory now. And I know that the XKR-S upgrade, engine wise anyway, is just a software upgrade. But, to protect those who bought the real deal like you, Jag techs can't get their hands on it. Maybe Ill upgrade after it's out of warranty. And it sounds pretty good like it is, definitely a step or five up from my 07.

Special Edition Artisan is Portfolio
Jaguar responded today with a very nice and detailed email. The SE Artisan in the UK is the Portfolio over here. The Portfolios do have the sill plates that say Special Edition. Whoever ordered this slipped the Jet Suedecloth steering wheel by - incompatible with Portfolio Package according to the US brochure. And also ticked the boxes for lowered suspension, performance exhaust and big brakes. I'm just lucky to have stumbled across it. I fell in love with the color and interior and figured I'd never find another like it, so I pulled the trigger. Glad I did.
Thank you to everyone for your assistance and input. Jaguar confirmed what you had all told me.
Thanks,
Dale

Hmmm - the only factory lowered-suspension option I'm aware of is the Dynamic Pack, which has stiffer springs, different front suspension uprights and revised Active Dynamics software. However, the Dynamic Pack includes the Speed Pack bodykit, which yours doesn't seem to have.
Oh, and all 5.0 XKRs have the same 'performance' brakes.
Confused...

Ngarara, I've copied this from the dealer build sheet. I noticed this car sat lower than the 07 I traded for it while they were parked near each other. I know the 10mm lowering comes with the Dynamic Pack. But, I can't explain the above and can only assume it means the 10mm lower suspension. As I mentioned before, it has the Jet Suedecloth steering wheel which the brochure notes is incompatible with the Portfolio Package which I have. It also mentions Super Performance Brakes and they may come on all the XKRs. That I don't know. It also has the Performance Active Exhaust which is an option. So, some of these are options and some are not, but they're there. That's why I wanted to get it straight from Jaguar. None of what I read or was told added up. There are apparently things the dealer can order that are not in the published information and don't line up with the available packages.
And thanks for the compliments mosesbotbol. I know she's mine, but I think the same thing.

OK, that didn't work. Sorry about that link. I copied and pasted the image, but clearly it doesn't work that way. From my dealer supplied build sheet - 10/limo Suspension Front. I'd be happy for someone to explain what that means. But, the car appears lower and I'm thinking that's what that line means. Dunno.
