HELP with my HOSE!!!

Default HELP with my HOSE!!!

This hose has been broken (attachment 2). It comes out of the Coolant Reservoir and runs to the front of the engine near the radiator. The original has two rubber pieces with clamps (attachment 3). But the main hose is hard plastic...which is easily BROKEN! I have temporarily put a regular rubber hose on it until I can order the real hose-I am not sure what it is called so I can order the correct one. ALSO should there not be a hose stemming from the place next to it...(see attachment 1)! THANKS!!!

Hi, Rhonda -


I believe this is posted in the wrong place, if your car is a 2006 XK8. It will be an X100, this is the X150 section. So, you may wish to ask your question there. However, there are some smart folks here that are also familiar with the X100, so they may be able to help.


I will say that it may be wise to add a hose clamp to either end of your temporary hose. Not sure if pressure is developed there or not but a clamp would be a good idea.

I believe that's called the overflow hose on the X150. AKA, burp hose. It is pressurized under normal operation, so throw some clamps on it. In reality, your temp fix is probably going to last as long as another OEM part as long as you used a braided rubber hose, so if you can live with it, I'd just leave it like that. Or call the dealer and describe it to them and they can help. For the X150, it's a $40 part.

OOps - Sorry I put this in the wrong place...I will make sure the hose is braided...not sure and I will clamp it! You think that is good enough then??? Thank you!!!

I agree with Mandrake that your fix probably can be permanent if you pick a correct hose (and install clamps). Make sure it is a water hose and braided. Is there an engine cover that goes over the whole thing? If so, make sure the hose is not crushed against something with the cover on.
