Default Help Needed - Air Flow issues - is this the fix

Mu XKR 2010 model have an issue when warm (100 km +) - it will not accellerate as it normally will

I have change air flow meters - I have had technical assist from Jag

We have tried to find any

Now my new mechanics suggest these vacuum "pumps" sound bad (noisy) and suggest I change them - see picture

Thanks in advance

If the car is struggling with air intake issues, surely the ECM will be logging some diagnostic codes. What codes have the mechanics seen via OBDII?

Default diagnostic codes

I have received diagnostic codes from my OBDII reader as well as the mechanics and actually also from a technical assist from Jaguar - we have tried and changed a lot and need new ideas - false air was not the solution

You can find the code from my private reader

From the workshop manual, possible causes for that code are:

  • Intake air distribution and filtering components incorrectly installed
  • Leakage from intake air system
  • Blocked air cleaner element(s)
  • Blocked engine breather
  • Blockage in intake air system
  • Mass air flow sensor seal failure
  • Connector is disconnected, connector terminal is backed out, connector terminal corrosion
  • Mass air flow sensor circuit, short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • Carbon build-up on throttle blade
  • Blocked injectors
  • Blocked catalysts
  • Mass air flow sensor failure
Test procedure to carry out:

  • Using the manufacturer-approved smoke tester, check intake air distribution and filtering components for leakage and correct installation
  • Check air cleaner element is free from restriction and in serviceable condition
  • Ensure the engine breather system is correctly installed and in serviceable condition
  • Check for mass air flow sensor seal integrity and correct installation
  • Inspect connectors for signs of water ingress, and pins for damage and/or corrosion
  • Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check mass air flow sensor circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • Make sure throttle blade is clean of carbon
  • Check for blocked injectors
  • Check for blocked catalysts
  • Clear the DTC and retest
  • Reset fuelling adaptions and carry out Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Long Drive Cycle Self- Test
  • Check and install new mass air flow sensor as required
Sorry, I've never had to troubleshoot a problem like this, so I can't give you any suggestions. But maybe the list above will give you some ideas.
