Default High idle on cold start on my 2007 xk

Got my first issue. Everything was running fine but now I am getting a high idle when I start up in the morning. It goes like this: I start her up in the morning and the rpm's surge pretty high -around 2000 rpm's and stays there for a full minute [while I am still in park] and then after a minute or so it calms down and settles into a normal groove]. Once it warms up it feels better but not quite perfect. Nothing has been changed by me. Everything else seems normal. I will be taking it to my mechanic but I wanted to get some background from the gurus here as well.

Thoughts?

2k rpm start is normal procedure for the XK.

1st is this the first time this has started this way. Also what was the temperature when you started the car. The cold start system usually adjusts idle in the 1500-2000 rpm range but if this has never happened before and the outside temps are the same then something has changed. Also was there a high gas smell from the exhaust. If the engine settled down to it's normal idle around 750 rpm and did it in a minute or less It sounds like it is normal. Has the drive-ability changed any. Also check your fuel millage , has it dropped significantly. Do we also assume there are no codes triggered. Keep feeding us info if it changes any.
