Default Hood/Bonnet lining

Anyone know what the under-hood lining on an X150 XKR is for? If I remove it will I hear the engine/supercharger any more? Any ill-effects, like heat damage on the underside of the bonnet/hood?

Thanks in advance

Sound deadening and to prevent localised heat damage to the paint on the bonnet.

+1 on Grahams comments.............why are you thinking of removing it?

If its worn / tatty / dirty we have a member here who makes some stunning replacements.

Check out Gonzo's hoodliners at hoodliners.net I think it is

I've seen some videos shot from inside the car of similar cars to mine and you can hear the supercharger - I can't really on mine, only very faintly when at very high RPM. I sort of wondered if that was because the bonnet lining was removed.

I've removed the bonnet lining on other cars in the past to hear a little more engine/turbo noise but if it's needed to prevent heat damage to the paintwork then I'd leave it be. That was all really

If you remove the hoodliner you will definitely hear the engine and supercharger more. With the vents it is going to be next to impossible to damage the paint from heat. If anything the hoodliner holds more heat in and if you're really worried about that then get some aluminium duct tape and line it to reflect the heat. It will be more effective for heat than the hood liner - lighter - and let you hear the noises you're looking for.
