Default Hot as "Puck"!

My gear selector puck gets almost too hot to touch in the summer when the car is parked in the sun. Anyone have any tips besides covering it up all the time. And also the cheap fake chrome painted plastic bezel surround has started to peel. Any suggestions for a replacement? (2010 XKR 'vert.)

Sun shade for the windshield and tint for the side. It'll save your dash, too.

I think the window shade suggestion is a good one. I replaced the rotary top on my wife's XF with a plastic leaper design. Also, we keep small cloth in the door pocket to cover the console when we leave the car parked out in the sun.

I try to park so the windshield is pointing North and the window tint works against the solar energy.

It helps to think of the bikers who have to straddle stuff even hotter...while wearing leather. Its as if your shifter is a telegraph device for the internal temperature of a biker.

Only thing no touchy on the bike is the exhaust pipe. Seats a little hot at first but not intolerable.

Must be nice. My RC51 feels like you're sitting on a solar flare unless it's under 80 out. There is no greater pleasure than a full tank of cool gas on a hot day on that thing.

I keep a white towel in my cubby and cover the seat whenever I park in the sun. Keeps it nice and chilly, even in 110 F.

I never let my interior get that hot- its asking for trouble down the road in a British car.

I understand that not everyone has that option. Just saying, do what you can to avoid it.

I have lightly tinted windows, the windhshield shade, park with the windshield facing away from the sun. And, when that isn't appropriate or the top is down I put a baseball cap over the knob.
