Default How for away can you drop your top>

No where not talking about GIRLS. But for those that have Steves ( jagwrangler ) top remote installed .
Mine on average is at the best 10 ft sometimes I have to go almost to the car.
I realize it has nothing to do with Steaves product, But the car itself , I have installed new batt in both remotes Still the same. I was wondering if some thing can be done to improve it , Maybe Steve can help'

With my 1940 Caddy modified coup The remote I installed I can sound the horn /open windows / Drop the car to the ground/ or lift it up/ open the doors ,from 40 ft away sitting in a cafe. Lots of fun when someone gets to close.
So how close is yours.?

1940 Cadillac Coup 62 series Caddy 500 engine 500 hp
Compleate rebuild ground up , all work carried out by myself and two sons except interior.

I agree, much shorter than I was anticipating, but I was thinking it was due to the remote batteries, since I haven't changed them since getting the car, so I have no idea how old they are. I have the impression that the distance might vary, depending on which side of the car I'm on, but I haven't done a full test of that (maybe a bit farther when approaching from the front).

That's one nice looking Caddy, especially like the digital gauges, original equipment? ;-)

The SmartKey range on the XK is rather limited.

I have seen on some cars slightly better range with the 3-press technique rather than using the headlight button.

Like your mod Caddy. I use the three button unlock/lock press and I get actuation 15-20' from the car approaching from the left or right rear.

Guess I'm on the lucky side; I can operate the top remotely from 40-50 feet on a regular basis. Course, that's on my 2010. On the 2000, it's about 20 feet max, but I've never changed the batteries in that remote.

I fitted the Jag Wrangler kit about 3 weeks ago onto my 2008 XKR, I remember seeing this post and tried the distance thing today, I flicked the remote on leaving the door at work, car was about 50-60 ft away and roof dropped no problems, was all nicely down and secure by the time I got to the car!

For some reason Japanese spec cars have low power remotes. I might as well use the key I have to stand so close to the car!
