Default How Do I Disable 2007 XKR Antenna? FIXED

Hi Guys:

New to this forum.

I have a 2007 XKR and would like to disable the electric am/fm antenna as I prefer the look when the antenna is down and I only ever listen to satellite radio.

Can someone tell me the simplest way to do this and in a way that I can reconnect it in the future?

I know I can probably go to an expert car stero installer but I hate to pay someone to do something that I can do myself. Besides, I enjoy a challenge!!

Thank you so much - Roger

Go to the trunk, remove luggage seperator if covertible, remove right side trunk carpet, you have to remove the 3 8mm bolts at front where seperator sits.
Antenna is behind covertible top pump. Hopefully you have coupe. If so, when carpet is removed, you will see antenna motor. Disconnect electrical connector from motor, not green or puprple, it is black or white.
Then antenna will not come on with radio.

if convertible, remove the torx screws holding pump bracket and move pump out of your way enough to get to motor. There is probably some grey foam in the way too that you will have to move. Then put it all back together. 10 minutes to do.
Incidentally, they are working on aretrofit kit to make it like the 2008 xk with antenna in the rear spoiler. No eta on that yet though.

My apologies, it is the 3 or 4 10mm bolts hold the bracket. Trying to do it from memory sometimes will fail. We arent getting any younger.

3 min to pull power antenna fuse, look in owners manual , locate 15 amp antenna fuse, (called Ariel) remove center rear upper seat cushion , seat cushion simply pull out one inch, then pull straight up to remove..entire job 3 minutes !

Thank you so much for the response. i will work on this in the next day or so.

I am curious as to what the retro fix will be for the antenna, where it can be moved to the rear spoiler (as on the '08). Surely, the existing wing antenna will have to remain in place or is it a question of wanting to still allow am/fm reception but being able to keep the existing antenna in the retracted position?

Thanks again - Roger

OK. Removed carpet and luggage seperater. I see lots of various screws on the pump but cannot work out where the torx screws are to remove it from the bracket!

I see regular bolts holding the bracket to the body and I can feel what may be 2 torx screws on the underside of where the bracket rises up. Is this correct and, if so, what size and type of tool do I use and how do I get under there to take them out?? Is there any way to get a sketch or drawing of this area?

Don't want to mess things up!

Thanks - Roger

Is that the only thing that runs on that fuse? (i.e. if I pull the fuse will that cause anything else to not work?) Does this cause poor FM signal?

I'll admit to not being the sharpest knife in the drawer. Am looking at the owner's manual and the only 15A fuse I see in the rear seat compartment is in F21 and the circuit is IHU, supply. Can't find anything called Ariel. Would that be the correct fuse. I would love to keep that antenna hidden.

Thanks.

Default hear you go , 3 min max !

In my manual pg #253, fuse # F4,(fuse color red 10amp) (power rod aerial) remove it and your done !

pg 249, tells you how to remove rear seat center section, pull out approx 1", then pull up 2", it is now removed.

follow flow chart in manual for f4 location,

3 min and yr done ! walla !

Thanks Chip. The original poster asked about the XKR. I have an XK - must be different 'cuz my manual doesn't match the pages you referenced.

I appreciate the response.

Best,

I have a xk, not a xkr, it should be exact same , do you not have a fuse stating (power rod aerial ) maybe manual has more than one printing ..

So I pulled the fuse last night on the antenna and the reception is HORRIBLE! I'm surprised everyone else had such good luck with it because I could only make out every other word of a talk radio station. No luck for me on this one.

I only use satellite , it is 100% not effected , if you use am/fm , I can sure see the effect would be bad !

Finally just looked in the fuse box and sure 'nuff there be the 10A fuse in F4. Pulled it and no more antenna. So much for believing the manual. FM reception seems to be fine on the stronger stations and I do have Sirius/XM. Didn't try AM as I never listen to it but I doubt reception would be any good.

Thanks again to all for the help.

MOSES, read the last couple of scentences in post #3 above.

Look at the back two seats. See the vertical padding b/t the two seats? Put one hand on either side of this padding, preferably on the upper half of the padding, and sharply pull the padding towards your self. The pad will release with that sharp pull. The bayonet type fasteners that hold it inplace are at the top of that pad. Once you pull the pad free, lift up and out. The auxillary fuse box is right there. I think the owners manual shows this....maybe.
