Default Identify a part

I took the front bumper off today to check a few things and cables. When I took it off two plastic parts came off, I assume they are normally bolted down but I cannot see where. Also they are damaged and I want to replace them. There is a part number however, I am unable to locate them in jpart.

Can anyone help me out on this? I have the one side photos as reference.it shows a part number of C8C9A this is the right hand side the left is mirrored.

I did find this pic on the forum, are these the same as the two foam parts that are each side just under the edges of the bonnet next to the lights? These look different to my ones though.

Another pic from the charm manual - 2009 - 2007 doesnay show much - no parts numbers to be found. If it was me I'd repair the parts with fibreglass mat and be done wiv it.

Yep, that's going to be the standard way for these things very, very soon. Think of a way to make it work, then bodge stuff together. No parts = noparts.

Many thanks both. I am looking at different laser scanners, now I have the large bed printer I can print things like this using carbon fibre reinforced filament. In the meantime I have done a repair on them as best I can.

Looks like the bumper has been off for a repair before and the body shop just couldn't be bothered to fit these back on properly.

The paint job was lazy and not done very well either, luckily the paint is the last thing I'm having done.

Hopefully I get my licence back in a couple of weeks and I can finally take the car out and enjoy it again.

Been busy today, I decided to reverse engineer the part. It turns out it is a dual fitment part for the left and right hand side.

Just have to model the inner sections and I can run a test print. The foam is handed.

I just have to set the big printer up and run one off in the carbon fibre reinforced filament, if it fits then another one for the other side.

That's this bracket finished, I am going to run the test print off tonight and see how it fits tomorrow.

I dont have a laser scanner at the moment so this was done the old fashioned way, micrometers, calipers, and angle finder and engineers rulers

The printer I have got are a Cetus MK1 modified for 0.2mm filament, a modified creality cr-10s that has a 300 x 300 x 400mm print bed great for large things, heated bed, magnetic build plate, auto leveling and upgraded software.
I also have an anycubic photon mono 4k resin printer and seperate UV cura station.
In the workshop a 20W laser cutter and a 300 x 500 small cnc machine made by Stepcraft Germany, and yes I modified it

I was going to run a print tonight but I am absolutely knackered!! I have been working on the front bumper tonight and thats a whole other issue!!

Thanks for the info, the 111aa number is the foam part number for that side as shown in my previous picture. Left hand is 8110-aa and 8111-aa is right handed foam.

Oooh is @unklebuck going to become our new de facto plastic parts improver/printer?

This could be a money making machine for ya sir.

I haven’t even picked up my 08 Port yet and know I need that plastic sheet mounted to the bottom of the armrest cover. As I’m sure many other do/will.
seems to be a common issue with broken corners.

I spoke with a Jaguar specialist and parts seller about this. As long as I clearly state, these are compatible replacement and not a genuine part I am ok to sell them.

So for the rear quarter brackets it would be

1 pair rear quarter glass brackets carbon fiber strand reinforced with M5 threaded inserts. These are not OEM parts and as such are a compatible replacement for broken brackets.

These fit the Jaguar xk x150 2006-2007 (date for example)

It's to the point it would have pictures also. My only issue is what would I charge for things. Then there is the variations in postages etc. a lot to think about.

One other thing is I need the part in my hand to measure and model it etc. if it's a part that's specific to a later car then it would need to be sent to me.

I have seen a markforged carbon onyx printer for sale on eBay at a good price, I am mulling it over.

Having coached many a people in starting, growing and usually selling a business over the past couple of decades… and seems this would be a side gig…

Just figure out your overhead. Materials, tools (including what you’ve already bought), skillset value and most of all your time

These forums are a great starting place to discover commonly broken items.
You can use eBay data (and AI which can scan entire websites like this one) to determine what sells the most for market data.
Then OEM pricing (of the item is even available) and eBay asking prices.

If it will be just a one-off, obviously the cost is high.
If a dozen or more people want that part, obviously per unit cost comes down.

A good example was a few years ago someone in the x100 forum made themselves the clamshell for the seatbelt which apparently gets brittle and cracks.
He didn’t have a laser scanner but had a friend that did and created the files needed, which is a one and done expense.
If I remember correctly over 40 people expressed interest. Which brought the per unit price/cost considerably and allowed him to also recoup the scanning costs.

Anyway, just my thoughts if that interests you.
If not, ignore all that.

Cheers!
