Default Installing a supercharger on ‘15 XK base.

I’m looking to add some more power to my base XK and have had my eye on an XKRs supercharger; my question is it feasible (without spending way more than it’s worth) or should I go for an alternate route like turbos and a tune?

Asked many, many times. NO!!! That will not work. Different engine specs and different ECM firmware.
The correct way to add power to a non-supercharged car is the following and universally accepted ONLY way to do it properly, not a joke:

Sell the XK, buy an XKR.

It will cost less and perform better than mussing around doing other things in a futile attempt chasing power.

but the thought has me reminiscing with a smile, our efforts in high school to get all we could out of the mid-seventies Novas, Chevelles, Mustang IIs, Vega’s, F150s, and anything else we could get cheap.

The local hotrod shop benefitted from our thoughts “just bolt it on”, lol.

I went a bit beyond with my Mustang II... it has a 557 CID (9.2 liters) full-built with a ton of go-fast goodies. It's quite quick.

The firmware in the ECU looks identical from the Na to the SC version, it's a 2006 car so an early one we are using in the comparison. We have a working car and a wrecked one .
I will post at some point a fuller outcome if we get the conversion done .
The non-R engines have a lot more compression than the supercharged engines. Put a blower on with high compression and you'll have problems. The ECU will detect a LOT more knock and go into limp mode. Use the other ECU and you'll have a VIN mismatch. on a 4.2 you'll need to add another air box and intake routing tubes and the associated equipment.
Selling the non-R and buying an /R will cost less and be far less work than what you want to do.
If you do try it, I hope it all works out well for you.
Post about it, I'd like to know the results.

Thank you all for the responses. Kinda sucks cause I love the configuration I have (black rims, black int) but seems like the cost is higher than the reward(by miles).

unfortunately I don’t have “get an R” money and selling it does not look to be fruitful enough to cover what I would need. I’ll keep looking around I guess °~°

Also the XKR are impossible to find at the moment at least with a hard top

I may be wrong, but I don't recall anyone on this Forum who added a supercharger to their XK.

This guy is still working on it ...

There once was a man named Grizzly
Who thought his Jaguar needed more flair.
He bought a supercharger, shiny and bright,
Dreaming of horsepower taking flight.

With wrenches and manuals all in a pile,
He figured it'd only take a while.
But bolts wouldn’t budge, the brackets were wrong,
And the hose he installed? It wasn’t too long.

The engine would sputter, then smoke with a hiss,
"I’m sure I was supposed to tighten this!"
But hours dragged on, and things just got worse,
As he muttered and cursed the Jaguar’s curse.

At last, he gave up, hands covered in grime,
His supercharged dreams dashed in no time.
Now he drives slow, with the engine intact,
Vowing next time to leave the hood firmly latched!

Then you definitely don't have "install a supercharger" money.

Yeah, there is LOT more to putting on a supercharger than merely "putting on a supercharger".

Let me put this another way. Start by trying to add a supercharger and you'll end up with a divorce. If you thought that supercharger was expensive ...

Superchargers whine.
Women whine.
Both cost a lot of money.
Choose wisely.

If it's got **** or wheels, it'll cost you money, but at least your car won't care if you leave it in the garage for a week.

With this and other examples, I’m quite concerned about the future of mankind when we decide to slack off and rely on AI.

I think old Frank Tough had more problems than just trying to make his 5 Litre coupe do 214 mph in his divorce.

Frank Tough appears to have been banned from this Forum, as his screen name isn't in the member directory.

Didn't that Project 8 XFR do 225 mph with a near-stock engine, but lowered suspension and had some extra aero?
