Default Insurance, who do you use and how much do you pay

Hey all,

Just moved to Arizona and I have shopped around for my 2012 xkr and keep coming back with around a $1700 premium for the year. I don't have a house as I rent so just have this car and my Jeep. I can list my coverages and such if that helps. Any thoughts or comments? I tried Hagertys and Geico...Geico would NOT cover the vehicle due to price?:

VEHICLE COVERAGES Limits / Deductibles
Bodily Injury Liability $250,000 per person $500,000 per accident $233.80
Property Damage Liability $100,000 per accident $96.10
Medical Payments $5,000 per person $65.80
Uninsured Motorist $250,000 per person $500,000 per accident $124.50
Underinsured Motorist $250,000 per person $500,000 per accident $33.10
Comprehensive $500 - $393.40
Collision $500 - $563.70
Auto Theft Authority Assessment Yes $1.00
Superior Level Protection Increased Limits and Coverage $123.90

Total Vehicle Premium $1,635.30

Thanks

Don't own an XKRS yet but my X5 is around that much per month (130) and my deductible is 1000. I think that is decent but I don't know as I've seen cars like the M6 was I thinking of buying being closer to 3600 a year.

Default Shop Around

You can't generalize about auto insurance rates because they vary by zip code, and some states are far more expensive than others. What good is cheap insurance if that company has poor customer service and might not be able to pay claims because they're not financially stable? See the insurance company ratings by A.M. Best Company: A.M. Best Company

You can either use an insurance agent to get quotes or do it yourself. If you have the time and ability to do it yourself, be sure to check mutual companies, such as Liberty Mutual, as well as the conventional stock companies such as State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, etc. If you're over age 50, join AARP and get a quote from The Hartford. And if you're a veteran, get a quote from USAA. Just make sure you use the same coverage specs and deductibles for all companies so you are comparing apples-to-apples. A spreadsheet will make it easier to compare them and decide.

Google "auto insurance in Arizona" for sources.

Momma said it: "You better shop around..."

Mine is $600 per year for the Jag alone, but listed as under 6k miles per year. USAA is my insurer, but Liberty Mutual is quite comparable to that and I switch once in awhile (wife does it).
She has her two vehicles and I have my three, plus a couple non-running projects.

It's often fascinated me to see the number of vehicles listed by our US members. Many of you never seem to sell an old one. The garage just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Reading this thread now makes me wonder how rich you all have to be just to meet the insurance premiums.

"Sell an old one"??? What old ones? Naw, just different vehicles for different purposes. I have my toy XKR, then a Ford pickup cuz I sometimes need to haul stuff. Also a few Mustangs 'just cause. Plus another bit older Ford pickup that I'll probably sell soon because I don't need two of 'em.
Wifey has HER 'good' car, a Lexus RX. Then she wanted a commuter car to not rack miles, so she got a Hybrid Fusion.

Now see, there’s a wife with the right attitude! We’ve got three cars, and my wife thinks two is too many! What’s up with that? I’d love to have a pickup too, to ‘haul stuff’.

With the 2 of us in the house we're down to 4 vehicles. Good thing I had a 12' ceiling in my garage so I could put in a lift to park the 3rd car there. Unfortunately the new truck sits out in the driveway. I always thought everyone had a her car , a his car , a pick up truck and a fun cruiser.

Main purpose was for a snow plow for ours and relatives driveways and for hauling wood and building supplies. Also it's a "real" pickup with an 8' box and only i set of seats , LOL.
