Take a look at this. In late June Jaguar will introduce a new special edition of the XE sport sedan. It will include the highest tuned 5.0L engine.

Until they fix up that bland, low grade interior...I won't be buying one.

I would put it at around $85K to start. I just looked at the LC500 Lexus and it starts at $92K and a much sharper interior.

Funnily enough, I really like the XE interior - much more than the C class and the A4 and the lexus. A lot of people/reviewers were disappointed with it but I liked its simplicity because I find the smaller cars look too fussy when they attempt grand interiors.

It isnt perfect - the driver's side vent blows cold air on your fingers, and I find the doors (with the riva bow continuation) a little odd and unnatural, but apart from that (and that the home button on the screen is on the passenger side so you have to stretch to use it) it is really functional.

My favorite interior though was my first XF - premium luxury, ivory and oyster with walnut. I usually loathe walnut but this was subtle and the combination perfect. I have seen audi try similar in an A8, it was jarring and cheap.

My old Radio Flyer had a nicer interior than any A4.

Will this have the desirability like the Project 7? Even if priced at $100K, will it hold the price solely on exclusivity and the "most powerful engine yet" advertising? Dealer says put down $20K and we will petition with Jag to let us get one for you. Not sure what I want from this car yet - seems all over the place to me. Entry level Jag with most powerful engine and extremely limited production run.

Would a simple XE-R have done the trick?

I think the curse of a limited production run of 'the most powerful car yet' is only going to be exclusive until the next more powerful edition comes out. Look at what happened to the XK's over the last couple years of production.

They dont intend to sell any Project 8 cars...they will sell a boatload of the ordinary XE based on the publicity this gets.
As they say 'race on Sunday- sell on Monday

They have already said that 300 will be sold so why would you think that????

"Production strictly limited to 300 units worldwide"

Right, 300 is nothing. Its strictly marketing.

Just like showing the R Sport on TV and then saying you can have an XE for $299 a month...

Yup, you dont have advertise to sell 300 fastest production cars ever made.
How do you amortize a $4million ad campaign on 300 units.
Which ironically was always Jaguar's former gripe, they had to factor more per car on ad cost than anyone else, due to low volume and very limited model line. Its really a miracle they survived.

Lexus is worse, they did not need to advertise the LFA-let alone produce it, they lost more per car than they sold it for-but sold a ton of 4-bangers off it.

I find nothing exciting about a Jag that looks like a Ford Taurus. Just sayin' ...

I heard MSRP is going to be north of $192,000.00! I'll take four or five XKRs with pulley and tune, or one perfectly restored Series One E-type, thank you.
