XK 2006 Pedestrian Warning Light
So what was the solution to the pedestrian warning light problem please ?
Change sensors or clean up contacts to them etc..
How much should I be paying to have this doe ? Does it matter anyway, what do they do ?
can i just disconnect them ?

read the error code .. and look that one up.. there are different errors for the sensors (L&R) and the control module..
If it is one of the sensors (likely), have that one replaced from a donor car.. i think i paid like $70 for one..
the sensors are just behind the bumper and are easily accessible when the car is in the air and you can work underneath it..
There are no cleanable contact, is it is the sensor, only replacement will work.. as you dont want the system to give a false positive.. (it activates the bonnet airbags!!)
What the system does is: if there is a collision, based on the impact, the sensors "detect" if you hit something human.. if that is the case, the airbags for the bonnet are triggered and the bonnet is lifted to ease the impact of the pedestrian on your bonnet and windshield - obviously, due to the pressure involved and the exploding airbags, your bonnet will not survive this and will be bent/damaged
When you open your bonnet, you can see the airbag modules in the corners near the windshield.. with a big yellow sticker with a warning
