Default James Bond (villain) XKR

Lots of people may have seen the green XKR from Die Another Day, but next time you see it at the Peterson Automotive Museum, take a closer look - surprise, it's not all Jaguar.

Anybody notice the length of the door was shortened by a few inches? It sits on a modified Ford Explorer chassis and uses a Ford V8 and a 6spd transmission with all wheel drive. They had to do this for the ice scenes, otherwise the Jag and the Aston (which was similarly modified also) would be spinning all over the place.

Considering the camera angles in the film, they probably didn't put much thought into the interior of this particular car (as evidenced by the ugly as sin shifter) but there were a couple of different cars for close up shots. Unlike this car, the other ones I've seen all display "Recaro" badges on the seats also.

Peterson is supposed to be moving their museum in the near future; not sure when but this car should go with it.

Most people assume XKs of that era were made from modified Ford Explorer chassis anyway!!!

Pretty cool, though. I wonder if they could've done ok just by putting on snow tires!

I always thought that car looked awkward.

Default 'Die Another Day' Aston crash

Found a video on YouTube about the filming of the knarly ice chase scene.
They wrote-off an 'Aston' during the filming:

Expensive !!

Bond movies are hard on cars. A factory tech driving an Aston to the set of Quantum of Solace put it in the drink. Oops...

I saw the green XKR about 13 years ago in Montreal at the F1 race, missiles and all. The color is awesome and Jag missed the boat in offering a similar color. Heck, they should still offer it.
