Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the ocean!!
As stated before I replaced the alternator and battery...all good
until today..
Went bowling, yes I bowl , pushed the unlock button twice to open the windows.. opened the trunk to put my ball in.
The car wouldn't start and lights flashed..ugh!
Called my jumper guy who came over quickly.
Car wouldn't jump..said battery was charged..brake pedal very hard!!!
Frustratingly started pushing buttons, radio worked, wipers didn't.
Got out and vented my frustrations.
Pushed emergency flashers, locked the car, opened the car...
Viola..
it started. Saw on other platforms similar issues where the car LOCKS itself and won't start...relocking..the opening resets something?
Thoughts..

I don’t judge.
I just want to know how many of the venting words are allowed on network television.

Try this - press and hold the START button before you step on the brake pedal. Yes, I know that the Owner's Handbook says to step on the brake pedal first, but trust me this works. I've been doing this for years, and my XKR always fires right up with a tap on the brake pedal.

Maybe if done 1st..?
@HealeyJag Let your car sit overnight. Tomorrow try to start it by pressing the START button first, as I explained above. If it still doesn't start, turn on the high beam headlights and see if it'll crank. If very slow or no crank just click-click and your headlights are very dim, your battery is weak. If not even a click-click, it's dead.
Remove the battery from the car and use a 10 Amp or higher battery charger to recharge it. Better still, take your battery back to where you bought it and have them load test it. It's not uncommon for a brand new battery to be defective.
Good luck,
Stuart

starter was "locked out" some how.

The key issue is that a jump start didn't work...
With a dead battery it should have started
Sorry... I just can't agree to the line of reasoning.
1. If only the radio came on. Your vehicle has multiple ignition modes. Yours was in "accessory" or "convenience" mode.
2. Engine would not start & brake pedal hard. You did not depress the brake pedal far enough to activate the "crank" mode.
As @Stuart S suggested, if you depress the button BEFORE standing on the brake, there are a number of values. One of them being that it will be immediately clear when the brake pedal is depressed appropriately.
Cheers.

Dont think it was explained the REASON to push starterbutton 1st..
Will implement this immediately..actually did this morning..
Seemed to have a different feel.
Didn't have to push down as much..Just a touch..
Thank you to all!!!
@HealeyJag Where did you get that from?
From a Forum here....when I was figuring out why ignition was locked out?
The issue with forums…. Weeding out the fiction from the fact.
Just another small tidbit of information to warrant that premium pint; after depressing the start button, wait for all dings and chimes to stop prior to putting the vehicle in crank mode.
This gives the opportunity for the car to finish its startup tests of necessary modules.
(yes, I’m one of those guys that turns off the lights, radio and climate control before shutting down the car)

Ok...bit overloaded here...other people say press simultaneously or a second after....now it's wait till it stops chiming..
Wish there was some documentation from jaguar on this..
Can we consider this anecdotal?
Not doubting but wanting to learn..
Makes me yearn for my e type which always started..
While running millions of scenarios thru my convoluted brain I might have had a Eureka moment..
On my ex Aston Martin Vantage the starting procedure is turn the key on..
The dash lights and dings like a slot machine jackpot. Then push the start button once the spectacle ends..
Vroom..
I think I got it..
Hopefully my XK does..
Have nicknamed her " CHRISTINE" !!!

The key words in the first post: "...brake pedal very hard". Let what little pressure is in the system drain overnight; there should be some play in the pedal in order to have the brake switch close.
Has anyone confirmed that there is more battery drain by NOT locking your car yet shutting down all accessories vs double locking and having the alarm draining the battery..
Nonetheless, my garage is always locked. And the cars at the Ferrari museum (Torino) are unlocked
