Default Key fob

Received low smart key battery message and replaced the battery. Have done this before with no problems. New battery installed and fob doesn't work at all. Any ideas as to why. Thanks in advance.

1. New battery might be a dud.
2. Battery not making contact in the case.
3. Battery upside down.

Try putting the old battery back in, and see if you get the warning back.
If yes, then I'd suspect 1 above.
If not, then 2 or 3.

I bought cheap Chinese-made watch batteries on Amazon in the past that didn't last long or turned out to be duds. Since then, I've bought only brand name watch batteries with expiration dates with at least 2 years left at my local drug store and haven't had any problems. Well worth the extra cost.

There is a known issue with the prongs.
Carefully slightly bend up the prongs and clean then with contact cleaner.

Thanks guys. Tried all of the above, none seem to work. A real pain having to use the key to gain access. What are your opinions on a weak car battery?

If you still have the old battery pop it in and see if you get the low smart key battery message. This will verify if the electronics in the fob are still functioning.
