Not sure if the attached will help anyone else in the future in terms of part numbers. Yesterday i had a new fob programmed and the whole process of divorcing my current fob and re-programming took 15 minutes, i went to a JLR Indy shop (Bacchus British) in Dublin, CA. Excellent service.
Please let us know whether or not it works and how it is done. Thanks!
Thanks again to Sone for pushing to keep trying to find someone that could program Jag keys.
So I finally picked the 2011 XKR up. It was a nightmare process but so far, I'm glad I did.
One of the first things I did was to go and get that spare key.
Couldn't be simpler. He just took my original key and the new spare, plugged his tablet into the OBD port, performed the programming and it was done.
Key looks exactly like the original key and works perfectly.
I could have bought a key off Ebay and saved a few dollars but thought I'd just buy what the locksmith had in stock and support a local business.
And my dealer charged less than all these quotes, quoted.
I don’t look at it as the dealer is providing a disservice.
If the dealer reprogrammed any non oem solution, then you’d be at them for “after configuration” service should something go wrong. No way to ensure proper QA principles.
Let alone the situation whereby a non-owner wants a replacement fob....

How does a non-owner do that? Programming a "cleared" Smartkey can be done only in the presence of the car and the other working Smartkey. The Smartkeys are synched to the module in the car using the Jaguar SDD software.
Note that Jaguar used two different Smartkey designs, and they are not interchangeable. The first design was single channel and was used for the first two model years of the 4.2L series. That's 2006-2007 for the UK and 2007-2008 for the US. For the last 4.2L model year, Jaguar switched to a multichannel design that was used thereafter for all 5.0L models.
If you're replacing a Smartkey in a 4.2L model, make sure that you use the correct single or multichannel fob.
The Jaguar Smartkey is not "just another key." It is a highly sophisticated digital vault.
Years ago, Jaguar had problems with the X100 and other models being stolen because the keyfobs were so quickly and easily cloned. To prevent this, Jaguar created a diabolical new design - the Smartkey - that made it impossible for thieves to quickly and easily clone the key and steal the car. Unfortunately, that also made it expensive for owners to replace a key.
@Stuart S . yeah, so not common place where I am, but there are many occurrences of a car valet has having keys made.
Though I’m not aware of a Jaguar incident.

YMMV. It makes it somewhat more difficult, but certainly not impossible. I'm NOT going to provide details.

Well, that was cheaper than it would have been to fly me and the machine to HNL . . .but that's a house call that I would have been willing to make!
What he did gives you TWO "original" keys. That is, the computer sees each of them as a separate key. If you have clones made, I suggest that you only have them made from ONE of those keys, never clone the other. That way, if you lose a cloned key, you can have the computer programmed to never accept ANY of them, and another "original" key made (and you can then clone from that).
Now that you no longer have just one key, you can send one off to have more copies made, when you are ready.

In hindsight, during the earlier days of Covid, there were some awfully cheap flights to Hawaii.
It may have been cheaper to have flown you out here! LOL!!!

I agree, but ...
The operative words here are "quickly" and "easily". Before the X150 Smartkey, code grabbers made it quick and easy to clone car keys, including the X100 key. It's not so quick and easy to clone the X150 Smartkey. I never said that it couldn't be done.
