Kids in backseat of XK Convertible
#21
My 6 and 13yo CAN sit in the back as long as the 6yo is behind me and the 13yo is behind my 5'2" wife and we all squish up a little. I wouldn't want to drive that way any longer than 30mins or so. Just the 6yo behind my wife isn't a problem even for longer drives. 3 adults is pushing it. I never like having the car seat in it as it boosted him up so high it seemed unsafe. Now that he's a little bigger, and legally doesn't need the car seat, the 6yo just uses the seat belt and fits snuggly down in those deep back seats. It really seems safer.

This isn't a GT, but I'm also not a fan of any Maserati, although at times they do look nice.

I like Doug DeMuro. I especially like his review of the used XJ (which is on my short list for next car...) Made me giggle.
Back to the subject... You guys that can fit in the back of an XK (any model), hats off to you. It's only use IMO is for a hand bag and a collapsible umbrella

We were actually heading out for dinner and my wife was out in the 'big car' so we had a choice of going hungry or squeezing in to the XKR.
I have only had four up two or three times but frequently have three up.

Here is another couple of photos taken at the time for the disbelievers.
My seat is just moved a few inches further forward than normal otherwise it would be dangerous to drive and, as you can see, the two in the back do have legs!
I didn't say it was comfortable but you can fit four up!

My wife is 5'1. I'm 6'1. I set memory setting #3 a certain way that would allow someone to sit behind her in a pinch.
I climbed in, let the seat back, and the only way I could actually sit was to lean my body a little sideways towards the middle and rest on my elbow. Otherwise, I had no headroom at all. But I can definitely see people shorter than 5'6 sitting back there for at least a 20 minute drive without too much fuss. It's primarily the legroom that makes it difficult to sit there for most.

My wife is 5'2", and she rode back there for ~175 miles (~2.5 hours) one time, with the top up, as something she treasured was being transported in the passenger seat. She said the first 20 minutes were ok, the rest of the trip was pretty uncomfortable.

Well, we used the rear seat to transport a human for the first time on Sunday. We needed to take our neighbor home from a party we were both at so my wife crawled into the rear seats. She is 5'10". We put the seat all the way forward and she couldn't get her legs to the floor so she put them on the rear drivers side seat. Her head was smashed against the headliner. Pretty comical. Sorry, I was not allowed to take a pic

I had to haul my 80 yo Father-in-Law once about two miles because of rain, from a restaurant to his car. He's a whopping 5-5 and maybe 140 pounds (M-i-L in front seat). Not a chance of sitting straight. He laid sideways across both back seats with his back against the side panel and his head just under the top. He told me afterwards "I will walk next time".
