Default Leather care question

Just a generic question for the folks on this forum. My leather seats were exposed to the rain and developed patches that seem dry and stiff with a texture akin to 80 grit sandpaper. Is there someway to repair this? Yes, I know Rancheroo wants me to burn them but , no.

Try Armor All Outlast Leather Restorer on it. I use it as my regular conditioner but others find it to restore very well. Obviously, if the leather patches you describe have already cracked, you'll have to take more severe steps to restore.

Don,

For background, see my old post #15: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...tioner-125145/

Your leather feels like sandpaper because the rain got under the polyurethane coating and, when the water dried, evaporation caused microtears in the PU coating. I'm pretty sure you can fix it yourself by using a one step combination dye and sealant specifically made for PU coated leather and custom mixed to match your interior color. At least, it's worth a try.

A few years ago I bought a dye/sealant from Dynamix, a UK vendor, to restore the worn area on my driver's seat left side bolster. It was a perfect color match, easy to apply with the supplied small sponge, and made the side bolster look like new. See my Post #12: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...repair-173932/

Here's the link to the Dynamix leather care website: Dynamix-Leather Care & Repair Specialists|Leather Cleaner|Leather Dye|Leather Repair

Any idea where I can find the color code for my leather? The Recaro seats are two-tone black and orange-red.

The color code for your interior is on the driver's side rear door jamb. there are two three letter codes on a label that shows the date and year of manufacture. One code is for the exterior color and the other is for the interior trim color.

+1 on what Ralph said.

If you still aren't sure, call your dealer's parts department. They should be able to find it from your VIN.
