Very odd, since CPO is a JLR product, I was clearly under the impression the guarantee service was provided only by franchised main dealers, anywhere, and begins with the inservice date.

strange. I’ve had CPO on all the cars. Never experienced this situation. And it has been honored in 2 countries for my cars.

And I do realize that “dashboard skin pulling” is a common situation for many but I have never experienced this. And it does have me wondering the how/why .

In service date (as listed on the paper form provided by dealer at time of sale: 6/27/2015. As supposedly entered into the JLR computer by dealer: 6/1/2015.

How would a buyer know if a dealer is "franchised" or not? Furthermore, say a dealer goes out of business, does that mean the CPO warranties purchased at that dealership are now null and void? This just seems contrary to what I understood (or assumed).

A Jaguar Approved Certified Pre-Owned Warranty is backed by Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC, a subsidiary of the British manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover. It is an extension of the original new car warranty with certain limitations, and is honored by every authorized Jaguar new car dealer in all 50 states.

BUYER BEWARE! Don't get fooled by a salesperson who offers to sell you a "bumper-to-bumper" extended warranty at a special sale price. That's not a Jaguar CPO warranty because it is not backed by the manufacturer, Jaguar. It's really an extended service contract from a third party unrelated to Jaguar.

For more information about extended service contracts, see my Post #6 in this thread.

You could ask that dealer or go to the Jaguar website. You could also Google "authorized Jaguar dealer near me". Here's the link to the Jaguar website:
https://www.jaguarusa.com/retailer-locator/index.html

Are you sure that you have a Jaguar CPO warranty? Just because you got it from a Jaguar dealer doesn't mean that it's a Jaguar CPO warranty. Jaguar dealers also sell extended service contracts from third parties unrelated to Jaguar. Was your "warranty" included in the price of your car or did you pay for it separately? If you paid for it separately, it's probably not a Jaguar CPO warranty. You need to read the documents that came with your "warranty" to determine exactly what you have. If you haven't read my Post #6 in this thread, you should.

The title of one particular document is "Jaguar Approved Certified Pre-Owned Delivery Checklist". I'm confident this purchase was represented to me as a Jag CPO. In any case the original dealer did return my email from this morning. He wanted the local dealer contact info. He now has emailed that 'since this is a cosmetic' claim, it isn't covered by CPO.... Please let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

I'm not sure if its worth the hassle to try to negotiate with JNA or dealer to replace this dash. It may be less of my time to remove the dash or to have a pro remove windshield etc, and then an upholstery pro reattach. The risk is that if I choose the windshield removal route, that later some of the opposite side (i.e. near the driver and passenger) might let go, requiring pulling the dashboard and doing the whole thing.

Have we learned anything over time about the life of the windshield-side repair technique? (My leather is currently tight except for say the last 1/3rd near the windshield.

Yep, had seen the Jag website 'find a retailer' and it shows that dealership in Miami. There's no mention on any websites that I have seen of "independent" versus "franchise" dealers. Seemed like an attempt to mislead me by the JNA customer service rep. Can they be that devious?

It appears that the leather dashboard in your 2015 XF is not covered by the Jaguar CPO warranty. See this thread, from the XF Forum:

Stuart and the dealer are correct about what CPO covers, it is limited and not as comprehensive as the original factory warranty. Even though it may be a JLR CPO, it is still an extended service contract (insurance). However, you may be able to convince JLR to offer a good will discount, often times based upon your loyalty to the main dealer and the brand.

Get in touch with Sberg on the XK Forum. He is pretty expert on the "pulled dashboard leather" issue. He maybe able to give you some good guidance.

Default Leather dash shrinking

Interesting, most people are blaming the sun. I have a 2009 XF S Portfolio with this same problem and I live in cloudy and wet North Wales UK.
it is now 2003 and I have noticed there are a lot of complete dashes for sale on ebay for little money. As you all know, its a big job to change it.

Alan,

If you read your reply immediately after you posted it, you probably would have seen your obvious 2003 typographical error. You could then press the "Edit" button and correct it.
Humans make misteaks.

Beware of spellcheck and autocorrect.

Repairing leather dash shrinkage can be done easily without removing the dashboard if the trim shop first removes the windshield. See the definitive 2014 posts from @tberg on how to do it.

Cheers

Stuart
