Default Leg room , head room

For all that have the XK convert. how is the seating suit you. I am curious as to the comfort during long rides (3-4 hr.). Although I just sold a small cabin car I could get comfortable during long rides but getting out was the problem. I'm 6'3 at 230 lbs so I am looking for feedback from others. I know the F-type was a little tight but livable but I assume the XK is more spacious. Thanks.

My experience with an 07 XK coupe is that 3 to 4 hr runs are quite manageable/pleasant. All day runs, say 8hrs plus, are problematical. Lack of room and unable to find a comfortable position.
I'm 75 now at 5'11' & 175#, so younger more supple drivers may not have the same take.

I own an 09' XKR convert and can tell you the ride is very comfortable. With electric memory seating and 3 choices for settings, you can configure the seating just about any way you want for comfort. My driving setting is #1, exiting the car my setting is memory #2.

I don't see how you would NOT be comfortable. In addition, I keep the leather seating conditioned and the leather is such premium quality, I literally slide into the seat.

No ride is comfortable for 4-8 hours of driving. Driving for 4-8 hours without stopping, is very rare. Taking breaks and stopping is highly recommended about every 2-3 hours, as with any automobile.

I have a 2012 Vert. Have undergone major successful back surgery (L4 & L5 fuzed, laminectomies at L3,L4 & L5. I'm good for about 3 hours then a 15 minute break and back at it for another 3 hours. With all the available controls in the XK, I can change the seat enough that under pressure I can last maybe 4 hours without a break. I'm 6'1" and weigh 165 and 77 years young. Great road car, a true GT.

Furthermore if you pack wisely you can fit luggage in the boot that will handle you and your better half for a week to ten days on the road. Enjoy!!

Hi Jagtoes,
I'm 6'1'', bit smaller and lighter than you and own an 2012 XKR-S. 3, 4, even 5 hours rides are not a problem for me, The S doesn't have ventilated seats what I miss. The only downside is the head rest wich is a bit low for me. Maybe at 6'3'' it could be an issue. Setting the bottom of the seat at the lowest position help a lot.

For me, the F-type is way too small. No room for the lugages, no space in the trunk, really not an option for me.

Ralph,

You said it - a true GT! I noticed that there are quite a few of us XK/XKR owners who are well over age 65. I'm 73 and just now realized why it appeals to us - it is Geriatric Transportation!
sorry...

Actually, whenever I'm behind the wheel I feel like I'm still 45!

Granted I'm in a coupe, but I'm surprised at the lack of room. I'm 6' 185 in shape and find it very tough to get in a good position on long drives. My biggest gripe, and I need to find a way to confirm this, is that the gas pedal is WAY too high/steep. So you end up having to **** you right ankle up higher than it normally rests. I find this the case at almost every seating angle I arrange, from front of the seats high to low... A major irritant on super long drives.

Also, I find that the seats don't recline NEARLY as much as pretty much everything else I've owned... I can get in positions that aren't absurdly leaning back and find that I'm at the limit. Odd given the size of the car (large) and what feels like a decent sized cabin.

Lastly, though I'm pretty normal in build, I don't have a huge 'swimmer's back', and fit into a size 40 suit (maybe a bit snug). Yet setting the side bolsters to anything but the extreme open setting is uncomfortable. Anything CLOSE to the halfway spot is crazy tight and almost prevents my back from touching the back of the seat... And people consider me fairly slim. Who these were designed to fit comfortably is beyond me.

Don't get me wrong, these are gripes rather than deal killers. Recently did a virtually uninterrupted 9 1/2 hour drive down the California coast and was OK in terms of seat comfort. Right ankle felt tense for a few days, but cabin noise, rigidity, and suspension quality make up for the slight defecits in seating/pedal angle IMO and make the car a bona fide GT to be enjoyed on long trips.

I agree, Skeeter. The side bolsters are snug even in their most open settings, and it doesn't lean back extremely far, but I've adjusted to that. I'm 6'1", 175 lbs.

I found that the passenger side was even less accommodating when my girlfriend wanted to drive. I tried to lean the seat back and it just started moving the entire seat forward to accommodate the additional recline. And the footwell felt extremely shallow for me. Have a good buddy that's 6'5" - not sure he's going to be able to ride with me...

I think the seats are really good. As mentioned before, a true GT car..

6F2" and around 180 pounds size 12 in shooes. Earlier had trouble withe pedals in the 996 997 and various other cars, but no such problem here...
