There isnt a straight line on the Zagato.
The DB5's fender line is effectively a square sans the slight curvature in the front, contradicted by the inverse in the back.
Simple wire wheels, not deep dish, truck like front bumper, nipples for indicators. And there isnt anything particularly elegant about the front intake. Overall it has no proportion and flow.
Just saying.

Lot of new research has shown how much in life is all about association and conditioning.
Its all a mater of what we find appealing as result of a feeding an established appetite or in the rare instance discovering new foods.

In all seriousness, the XK is a great car which most of us obviously love, but it doesn't mean everything else out there sucks or that one would have to be a tasteless idiot to consider anything else.
I've owned a couple of 928's in the past ('86.5 & '89) and I found them to be very soulfull maintenance headaches. That said I loved 'em both. I find the XK/XKR to be the spiritual successor to the Porsche 928, without the maintenance issues. The Jag is so much more beautiful though!
I agree, almost all 928's were automatics as well. It is a fantastic car to have for the person who can afford more than one and hires someone to rotate them through mechanic's shops.
The interior is fantastic(If you're Italian sized), and the driving experience if its in shape is proper Grande Touring. A shame the car's were so expensive to run that generally they are just out rotting. Very few owners actually take care of them. It takes a brave sort of "The numbers do not matter me" to run 928's.

There is a fourth dimension in design that consumers are even less aware of: Motion. Its like a closely guarded magician's illusion. In use since before Christ, Italians have a word for it: contrapposto. Rolls Royce uses it, Jaguar used it in the Kalminos wheels in a two-fold way. They used contrapposto depicting past and future motion, but they also used aviation association. It looks like a prop on an airplane. Because we associate airplanes with motion.
