Default Luggage Divider - Jumper Position Sensor - 2007 XK

Has anyone eliminated the luggage divider in the trunk? That divider is a real pain getting it into position correctly. I would just like to eliminate it all together by jumpering the position sensor. Maybe somebody knows the wires to jumper. . My main reason is this dang battery keeps draining down on me in a couple weeks time so I’m in and out of the battery area much more than I would care too. Thanks and please let me know.

One end (left?) of the extended ‘window shade’ has a small piece of metal or magnet in it. You could either pull it out, or get a similar piece, and then tape it to the track in the appropriate position, making the sensor think the separator was in position.

Awesome, it is the left side and I thought it may be a magnet type sensor. Can't see it clearly without taking it out but that's great. Easy bypass. That thing is a royal pain. Thanks for the help!

I'd advise against removing the divider, it's there for a reason. You can severely damage the top and anything you have inside the boot if items are not where they are supposed to be.
Better to practice using the divider, it's really not that difficult.

Default Use a steel nut

On the left side panel there is a notch in the lower rear section that the divider slides into.

If you place a steel nut in it, the position sensor will think that the panel is in place.

Actually by simply disconnecting the sensor the condition is satisfied. I went thru all the trouble if cutting the two wires and wiring them together only to realize the fault (divider not in position) satisfied by just unplugging the sensor. Must be a normally close circuit I assume. I intend to use the divider but it’s much simpler not having to fuss with the divider flap that meets the magnet type switch.

I would not recommend to cut the two wires, but simply pull off the connector (i.e. unplug).

The sensor is a hall-effect sensor: it detects the presents of a piece of magnetizable metal (e.g. galvanised steel) inserted at the end of the rear bar within the divider.

WARNING:
Please note that it is easy to forget that some luggage space is required to fit the folded roof, once down. If you would leave items which are too high, you impede the tonneau cover to close completely.
You might even break things when operating the roof.

This is why the divider is there in the first place, including the detection of its proper placement before any roof operation.
