RE: crank position sensor
Idrive, the crankshaft position sensor is on the front of the engine, on the bottom near the flywheel. It will be the only sensor in the area that points at the crankshaft. Pulling the sensor is simply removing a screw or two and the sensor will be able to be pulled out. The sensor is a magnetic pickup. So, there is no connection between the sensor and the 35 tooth gear (actually a 36 -1 tooth gear). So, unless you force the sensor too far into the engine (results in damage to the sensor), as long as it is installed, all will be good. You will probably need to access this sensor from under the car, looking up.

the crank sensor on a v8 is dead center bottom of engine, and at the back of the oil pan, 2 pin black connector. and do you have a code for it? cause its very unusual for 1 to go bad nowadays
