Mad Men
I have been watching the series, "Mad Men". On the show, they got the advertising for Jaguar (in the 60's). They struggled with trying to sell cars with a reputation of poor reliability.
One of the guys tried to commit suicide by using the exhaust of his brand new XKE, but he couldn't get it started.
Found these Jaguar references to be quite humorous.

Remember an episode of - I think - Magnum P/I with Tom Selleck. A side joke to the episode was an XKE he was driving which was always giving him trouble. Was a convertible and they must've had him sitting on pillows to exaggerate the scene even more - looked absolutely ridiculous, which must've been the intent.

The Jaguar ad campaign they came up with for the show, was the best that I have ever seen. (boy sees a beautiful lady passing by in an etype- he thinks at last something beautiful he can own)
This is what Jaguar said about that pitch
"As I watched the show, I was wondering where the pitch was going to go, especially with the whole mistress thing," Mr. Pryor said. "One connection I liked was, they went down this emotional path. They weren't trying to sell the car, they were building on this emotional connection, this love, this lust that people had for the brand back then and that we're trying to recreate now."
