Default May I Gush?

I have an XK convertible (and an XF, too) and I've never seen an XK coupe in person until today. My Gawd, it is a stunning beauty!
Merry Christmas to you all!

Timeless design, every curve exactly where it should be.

I vastly prefer the lines of a vert with the top down. Vert with the top up is comparable to the coupe. Coupes have too much glass, like a '66 Charger.

I'm with you, slick.one,

I prefer almost all Jaguars as coupes from the E-Type to the F-Type. The only exception for me is the XJ-S, which for some reason I prefer as a convertible. But The X100 and X150 coupes have a little less headroom than the convertibles, and of course, their tops don't drop, so the best option is one of each.

Cheers,

Don

Ya, coupes for me. The convertible lines with the roof up don't do it for me.

That being said, I think the Convertible is a beautiful design both top-up and top-down.

Surprised to read the comment about too much glass. This was perhaps a valid criticism on the earlier X100 but the narrower tailgate glass on the X150 balances the proportios. Here's a comparison of my last X100 and first X150:

X150 has stood the teat of time better. Introduced in the UK in 2006, it still looks good seventeen years later. The same is not quite so true for the 2005 Final Series X100.

and I quite like the pillarless appearance of a vert, top up, with all windows down.

You say that because your glass is empty!

Although there would appear to be a large blind spot on the X150 in comparison with X100, rear vision is hardly restricted. Very different from the Bentley Continental GT. Although a similar rear quarter design to the X150, the Bentley has huge blind spots on both sides.

My brother-in-law has a Continental GT, and it definitely has restricted rear vision, but with a 550-hp 6.0L twin-turbo W12 engine, you rarely have to worry about being overtaken...

However, the Jaguar supercharged X100 and especially the supercharged X150 models feel as powerful as the Bentley because they weigh more than 1,000 pounds less...

Very true. Most people think my 15 year old Jag, is a 2023 model.

I'd not mind the 1988 Countach rear window though

The coupe is objectively better looking (visually satisfying might be a better statement), as the roofline can flow exactly where it needs to to complement the rest of the lines. The vert is 90% there, but the slightly stunted roofline at the back caused by the folding roof detracta from the flow compared to the coupe.

Saying that, it does give it a more hunched up aggressive look from the back imo, where the coupe can sometimes seem a little too 'hatchbacky'. Also, the vert is one of the, if not the, best looking convertibles out there, so really, you can't go wrong. Both are beautiful cars, and the added top-down experience you can get on-demand with the vert easily makes you forget any 'roofline envy'.

Your assessment assumes the convertible roof is UP. WHY would the roof be up? Is it raining right now? Parked in an unsavory location?

Unfortunately the hidden cameras can still catch you up! A present from Spain waiting for me when I got home to England after six weeks touring.

I got a similar greeting from the French Gendarmes the year before in my XK.

Utah must be a lot drier and safer than England.

Doesn’t Brexit make this ticket superfluous?
