Default Might be selling my '08 XKR

Found an XJ I like, so the XKR coupe may be on its way. Trouble is the XJ is not at a Jaguar dealer and I am pretty sure any trade-in offer will be very low. As a result, I may try selling it privately. Mind you, the difference between trade-in and private isn't that much according to KBB, so maybe the trade idea isn't so bad.

You can ask your Jaguar dealer to wholesale it to their inventory for you, a good dealer will do that so you can buy it from them.

Really? None of the Jag dealers in L.A. I called would buy my car outright. Trade and buy from them yes, but selling to them for cash No.

I got the same from Gaudin, but that was within weeks/months of them going down the tubes. Maybe they knew which way the wind was blowing when I approached them.

I think what Cee Jay was proposing was to ask a Jaguar dealer to buy the XJ from the non-Jaguar dealer at a wholesale price, and then the Jaguar dealer can sell you the XJ at retail price and take your XKR as a trade-in.

Do you have a lien on the XK?

There must be a similar XJ for sale nationally at JLR dealer...

Nope, it's paid off.

I will admit I have limited my searches to cars in the SW. Getting the right combination of colours in a SWB car is not that easy. Remember that 60%+ of all XJs are long wheelbase models and many, many buyers go for the all black interior.

Have you talked to local Jag dealers on your demands for an XJ?

Does the JLR website for pre-owned yield any results nationally?

JLR site only allows searches of CPO vehicles within 300 miles of the entered zip code. Searching in the SW did not reveal a car I want. I guess I can enter zips for other markets.

OK, found a way to fool their website into giving me everything in the CPO inventory. Still no joy on a car at the right price with the right colour combo.

I've driven a 2013 V6 and I didn't find it that much different to the 2012 V8. There is a big "however" at start up. The V8 is a "bit rattly" initially, but the V6 was horrifically noisy, at least to my ears. Once warm the V6 was quiet, but anonymous, whereas the V8 makes a nice noise in the background unless you goose it.

I have to agree with Parzival .I leased a 2012 XJL V8 for 2.5 years and then bought a 2014 XJL V6 and have now driven it for almost the same amount of time. I'm sorry that I just didn't purchase the 2012 because I've found that there is a huge difference between the two. Although I need a sedan in order to drive my elderly parents around town, I'm now in the market for an XK-R as a second car to replace our Maserati.

Do you plan to sell the Maserati? I know someone who may be into it.

And in the Volvo flagship SUV XC90 is a 4-banger that is supercharged AND turbocharged. Imagine how long that little engine will last.

The all-new Lexus flagship LS sedan has a V6 as the only engine option.

R.I.P. V8

I doubt he'd be interested in it in its present condition; the reason we're in the market for a replacement is that my wife totaled it last week.
