The JTB says it can affect cars from B47483 onwards, and it says the cause is "Insufficient venting within the headlight and internal anti-fog coating misting due to moisture build up in the headlight internals." I don't know if it was a new coating introduced with the MY2012 facelift (not sure what VIN that starts at), or whether it was a bad batch of coating, or wrongly applied - or it was actually a design fault in the headlamp and they had to redesign the venting. But Jag recognises it as a problem, and they will fix it under warranty if you complain.

And that's the way it should be, if it's a known problem. Not some service weenie trying to convince you that it's a feature, not a bug...

Glad you're getting yours sorted; the power of the forum strikes again!

That is great news, and hope it solves the problem in the future and does not happen again.

The new lights have a coating to prevent this, I just hope it works.

I thought the coating was the problem.

The new ones have a coating that keeps the condensation from sticking to the inner part of the lens and causing stains, which are the main issue.

As Muddy says, the original coating seemed to be the problem - it would part-disolve in the condensation, then flow, then dry in streaks. Presumably they have changed it, or the way that it is applied (or maybe they had a bad batch; such stuff happens).

My lights are at the dealership and my car has been on a rack for three weeks waiting on a left side caliper. I'm going crazy over here, as soon as I get it installed I'll update you right away.

I'm surprised your still waiting mine arrived in a week but had to come from the UK.
