Default Good luck

Dave, I attended the auction where this car was being sold. Realised radio wasn't working before bidding. Checked warranty history and the fault has been reported since the car was first built. Never resolved. In April the owner took to a specialist and he goodness fix and advised main dealer. The fact it hadn't been resolved in 17 years stopped me bidding at auction. Suspect a trapped harness somewhere. Good luck

Dave,

Read this thread ...
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-sound-255414/

Do a "hard reset", which discharges module capacitors and resets them to the factory defaults.

Good luck!

Dave, I attended the auction your car was for sale in. Noticed the radio wasn't working. Checked warranty history and the poor radio reception had been an issue since new. It was in and out of main dealers and apparently not resolved. In April this year the previous owner took it to a specialist, he couldn't fix and advised main dealer. Speaking to the owner at the auction, this fault was the reason for its sale. My guess , due the the fault always being present, is a trapped wire/harness somewhere. Good luck.

3rd time lucky. I viewed this vehicle at auction and noted radio wasn't working. Checked warranty history and an issue was evident since day 1. Never fixed. Also checked paper work that was at auction house and in April it went to a specialist and they couldn't fix. Suggested main dealer!! The vehicle owner was present at auction and he said it was the only redon he wasn't selling car privately. Suspect a trapped wire/harness somewhere.

Welcome to the forum Dave and Martyn,

When you signed up for the forums both of you must have missed the New Member Area - Intro a MUST where we ask all newbies to post an Intro telling us something about themselves and their vehicle. This has the benefit of members knowing who has registered and then having the opportunity of giving a welcome and some useful advice about posting.

This has had two consequences:

1. Dave has a problem that has clearly been with the vehicle from new. The post didn't explain it was newly acquired in that condition.
2. Martyn's three replies with an explanation were all locked and invisible to members.

We don't have many rules on the forum but the few we do have are to help make it run smoothly. I look forward to reading your Intro's.

Graham

A hard reset is silly at this point. if a trained mechanic couldn't get to the root of it, and a hard reset would be on the top of his list, it's going to take some drilling down. Buy and Autel AP200 to start and let's begin with codes. Collectively maybe we can solve what no one else can (Challenge accepted), it but you start with DTC codes. The Autel AP 200 will read all Jag codes, including body and chassis and is cheap ($80) US. it will only Gove you the first five digits and not the last two but it will get us something to go on.

Come back with the codes and let us know.

Does the CD player work, how about the aux input under the centre arm rest?

Hard to believe this issue wasn't fixed since day One.

Hi thanks for the info I have spoken with the former owner he said his girl friend put some stuff in the boot and the radio stopped working. Took it to a specialist who diagnosed the amp.The amp is expensive so would like to be sure before buying one .Were did you get the warranty work info from please was there a repair history? AMP change. The car is great though full service history 2 owners just had it MOT. and service
